    Which CCTV Camera?

Hikvision or Dahua would be my choice. Use Hikvision ip cams and NVR personally and so far been outstanding. The 4k turret cams I have at the front are amazing. Not cheap though :(

    Texecom Ricochet Smoke Alarm

Yeah I read somewhere only 18 months battery life. To be honest I don't mind changing batteries once a year, I do keep close tabs on my alarm system with wintex and it'll flag up on the main panel I would imagine ? Installing mains powered detectors would be a a lot of work, ripping...

    Texecom Ricochet Smoke Alarm

Sound, will give them a try. Will just get one to start with in case they aren't up to much. Can't find any reviews about them....though I've never had an issue with any of my Texecom stuff so should be good (apart from the buggy Smartcom/app which appears to be good now after firmware updates)...

    Texecom Ricochet Smoke Alarm

Hi, thank you for your reply it's very much appreciated :) I flashed my main panel back when I installed the Smartcom to version 4.03.00. At the time I ended up buying another 8XP-W expander due to issues I was having. Connection with the Smartplug for example was very buggy. Just looking on...

    Texecom Ricochet Smoke Alarm

Hi all, One of my old Kidde smoke alarms started chirping at 3am the other morning and when I was replacing the battery I noticed the date on the back was 2003....so thought it would probably be a good idea to replace them. Been looking round and not sure what to get. I keep looking at the...

Texecom Premier Elite 24 False Alarms

Hi, just after some help. After 4 years of zero false alarms from my Premier Elite alarm I have had two in the past week. All from the same sensor which is in the shed. It is a Ricochet DT-W Dual Tech PIR and I can see no obvious problem with it, the battery is fairly new and doesn’t show any...

    Sealant for Indian Sandstone

Hi, Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good sealant for my Indian Sandstone patio. Don’t mind paying a fair wedge if it’s good stuff, would like some that enhances the colour, probably matt rather than gloss. Been looking at Resiblock ISS Sealant Colour Enhancer. Seems to get favourable...

Texecom SmartCom - App: Cannot log in

As above, make sure you update the Smartcom firmware, I did mine last week and it now works perfectly, I control my external security lights connected to the smart plug with a recipe in the app. It was temperamental as Hell, often the lights wouldn’t come on when the PIRs were triggered as per...

Texecom Premier Elite 24 - *updated* Connect is too buggy so need help with alternative *Resolved*

Looks like I have now resolved my Texecom connect woes by simply fitting a new wireless expander 8XP-W unit. So far it works perfectly, I have set up a recipe in the app to control my floodlights via the smart plug and it has not faulted yet. It also works instantly where as before there was a...

So, the only thing I need now (I know I keep saying that ).......is a diode and a relay. I am looking in the install manual its says the diode is a 1N4148 so is this what I need...

Texecom Premier Elite 24 - *updated* Connect is too buggy so need help with alternative *Resolved*

Just on Wintex now and all seems straight forward, only thing I'm not sure of is how to program the 3 zones that I want to trigger the lights into "Zone Group 1" When I click on Zones & Attributes I don't see any options to do this or is it somewhere else in the settings ?

Fantastic, I'm a mech engineer by trade so used to hitting stuff with an hammer :D.....but I know a little bit about electrics lol. I will ask one of the sparkies at work if we have any suitable relays laying about. My new wireless 8xp-w expander which has latest firmware should come tomorrow so...

Texecom Premier Elite 24 - *updated* Connect is too buggy so need help with alternative *Resolved*

Thanks Scott, really appreciate your time. I don't need any more zones, the external GJD PIR detector will go in the spare 8th zone on my main panel. I get everything you say, I'm just not 100% sure where the output is on the panel. When I am looking at the PCB there are 8 outputs in the top...

Sorry, I misread your post regarding the GJD sensor, I've twigged you meant the PIR I am putting on my drive post. Where on the PCB is the output where I would connect the relay to ?

This is great, thank you. However, I do not have any spare zones :( I suppose I could swap my wired PIR on my landing for a richochet PIR and free up a slot. (I could probably do without it completely tbh). Or is there any other output I can connect to rather than a zone? Also, where would you...

Hi again, after setting up connect smart com and "smart" plug and trying to set it up to control my floodlights I have come to the conclusion the whole connect thing isn't ready yet, it's full of bugs. All I want it to do is turn the floodlights on for 5 minutes when either of my front doors are...

    External Alarm Cable

Hi all, just ordered a GJD curtain PIR detector for my driveway post and I need to run a cable to it. I only need about 15m of external cable but most places only sell it in 100m reels at about £30+ so much of it would be wasted. I do have some external CAT6 cable so I'm wondering if this would...

Texecom Premier Elite 24 - *updated* Connect is too buggy so need help with alternative *Resolved*

As regards to the external PIR to trigger my flood lights via the alarm panel, I am now wondering if there is a better solution than the ugly Texecom TD AFQ 0001 ? Firstly, with a 90 degree beam angle I think I might struggle to set it up properly on a driveway 10 metres wide. I have seen a beam...
