    Replacement Alarm

I think thats the idea, they are meant to grab your attention and act as a deterent. However, if you prefer something more subtle, choose one of the other Odyseey boxes (there's 5 different ones I think), I personally like the shape of the 3 and are very popular. If you want it to be loud, get...

    Replacement Alarm

Premier Elite 24 is an hard wired only panel (8 zones) that needs additional expander to be able to use wireless sensors. That's why it's cheaper. It is the Premier Elite 24-W that you would compare against. This panel is wireless enabled and has 4 hard wired zones.

    Replacement Alarm

Can't comment on the Galaxy but if you choose Texecom it sounds like you need no more than either a 12-W or 12-W live panel (built in keypad). This covers the wired zones you need and gives the option to add wireless zones later if you wish. They are simple enough to install once you get your...

    Replacement Alarm

How many wired zones do you have? A panel such as a Premier Elite 24-W doesn't need a wireless expander but only has 4 onboard wired zones. A Premier Elite 24 will need a wireless expander (either 8XP-W or 32XP-W) but has 8 wired zones. Here is a list, there is also the 12-W Live which has the...

Texecom Odyssey 3 Second Bell Box

No it just has terminals for 240v AC input and for 12v DC output. I was planning to connect DC output to battery terminals so the PSU will charge the battery and then connect from the battery to the bellbox. The PSU is something I got from work, an electrician pulled it out of a disused panel...

Texecom Odyssey 3 Second Bell Box

Thanks, like I said it has worked fine. The strobe/ bell test from the panel worked as did an alarm itself. I am going to put the battery between the PSU and the 2nd bell box so that if theres a power cut it doesn't go off and annoy the neighbours.

Texecom Odyssey 3 Second Bell Box

Hi, thanks for your reply. I wouldn't have enough cores left in the cable to connect to the digi communicator and I don't want to start pulling my house to bits to run more. Here is a rough image of how I have connected the seperate PSU...........sorry, I'm on works computer which is rubbish so...

Texecom Odyssey 3 Second Bell Box

Hi all, I recently fitted a second Odyssey bell box to my Premier Elite alarm system. As I am in quite a remote location I wanted both boxes set to SAB, I wanted them to be as loud as possible and SCB was a lot quieter. So, I wired the boxes as shown in the instuctions (grade 2), but as the...

    Best DIY Alarm?

I used to have a Miguard G5 alarm at my old house and to be honest it was a bit naff, Chinese build quality wasn't the best and the PIR brackets were woeful. When I moved house, I sold it as my new home had an old wired alarm so I decided to upgrade that instead. I went for an hybrid system as I...

    Texecom Premier 24 False Alarm

Just done a test, set the alarm and left the house, came back in and disarmed and it didn't display 'test failed'. Can't understand why it showed test failed yesterday but didn't show up on the event log?? Could this indicate a control panel issue?

    Texecom Premier 24 False Alarm

Ok, went out yesterday for a few hours, came back in and the keypad displayed 'Test Failed'. SHHHIIITTEE! However, I have looked at the event log on Wintex and it doesn't say anything about it, which is confusing?? I do have to walk past the PIR to get to the keypad and disarm the alarm, could...

    Texecom Premier 24 False Alarm

Thought so, I presume on pulse count 1 the sensor just has to see hot to cold to alarm and on pulse count 2 it has to see hot to cold to hot?? Thanks for the reply.

    Texecom Premier 24 False Alarm

Ok, I've tested the cable cores for resistance and continuity and it appears to be fine. I have replaced the PIR for the Texe Dual Tech one. I'm on nights again tonight and I really want to be sure the issue is fixed (had a polite note from my neighbour through the letterbox telling me the alarm...
