Hi All Apologies for the late reply as have been away for a while. I did not get a chance to get a garage to do a compression test but when i fired the car and ran it for a few miles the below fault codes appeared! 16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected P0300 - 35-10 -...

Golf MK4 1.4 16V Mis fire rough running

Hi All I changed the Temp sensor and problem still persists but the codes only come back after a few days of driving and the Mis Fire appears to be really random! If I hold the Left Hand Side engine Mount the engine ticks over smoothly! When I release it there appears to be 1 Inch play...

Golf MK4 1.4 16V Mis fire rough running

Hi Burnerman Took the car for another opinion and old fashioned mechanic thought that cyclinder 3 had a stuck compkression ring hence misfire. Oil Flushed and thicker Halfords 20 / 50 Oil added to loosen and add lubrication to stuck ring. Codes I still get are 16684 - Random/Multiple...

Hi ch427 Don't know if it is a single point injection system but does have a fuel rail and 4 injectors and is a 1.4 16V golf Mk4. I took it back to the Chap who did the Ross Tech who cleared the codes and then checked for individual cylinder misfire. Cylinder 4 was the one which...

Golf MK4 1.4 16V Mis fire rough running

Hi ch427 The Coil Pack is just one unit, just wondering if the coil pack is faulty not sure if that shop will honour a refund or replacement as they may fault maybe with another component? Will swapping the injector leads not harm the engine?

Golf MK4 1.4 16V Mis fire rough running

Hi Mursal Plus look fine no Oil or sooty deposits just grey / brown on colour, they are NGK replaced last January. I had a Scan done on the car Ross Tech? No faults found in the engine module apart from the 2 Codes mentioned so does that mean Lambda sensors are OK? Bugs the hell out...

Removal of a Fuel Filter VW Golf MK4 1.4 16V

Thanks Guys Job was quite easy to do as long you squeezed hard on the fuel pipe connector and then twisted it off gently although it was quite stubborn and needed a bit of force. Re-fitting was just the same the pipe was stubborn to go on but managed it. Looking at the Old Filter when...

Removal of a Fuel Filter VW Golf MK4 1.4 16V

HI Burnerman Thanks for the reply but there does not seem to be this white band. The Fuel Pipe Collar going into the filter appears to be one piece! I was told the a special tool was needed? Is that correct or just brute force?

Dear All I want to remove the Fuel Filter on a VW Golf MK4 1.4 16V. I cannot see any Jubilee Clips, VW Crimped Hose Clips , Circlips etc attached to the Fuel Pipe. So how do I remove the old filter to renew? Do I have to prise off the Fuel Pipes as I am a little concerned about damaging...

    Lumpy / Poor Idling Golf MK4 1.4 16V

Thanks Burnerman, True Gent, will look at the Site and do some more rearch. I too am of the opinion that the Throttle body maybe be at fault. Chap from Kwik Fit said that they always replace these whenever they get these cars with uneven idleing etc.

    Lumpy / Poor Idling Golf MK4 1.4 16V

Hi Burnerman Thanks for that, there is no distributor Cap or Rotor Arm as its electronic. Could it be this module attached to the camshaft that is the problem?
