    One gang socket with USB

Yes, very much what I was looking for originally. However the cupboard - which I have only just been told about - seems to solve the concealment problem, although we may need a longer USB to USB lead.

    One gang socket with USB

Batteries could have been an option. However, all resolved this morning as my daughter has revealed the presence of a suitable cupboard to house the USB socket. Thanks to all for ideas and help.

    One gang socket with USB

Well, it was. That's why there is a "wireless" thermostat. The alternative would have been 30+ feet of hardwiring. There is no real issue with the thermostat, just need to provide a neat power supply, concealed as much as possible.

    One gang socket with USB

That's a very good idea thank you. Shame though, like you I can find a single module brush outlet but only a double USB module so have a to be a double grid. Never mind I can probably sort something out. Many thanks.

    One gang socket with USB

Yes, it is a combi boiler, no hot water cylinder. It is the ground floor of a Victorian terrace, rewired with a new CU and combi boiler when the kitchen was installed earlier this year. I can hide the cable as far as possible. Ultimately though it has to emerge from the wall and get plugged...

    One gang socket with USB

Oh indeed. The problem is convincing my daughter of that fact. She wants concealed wiring.......

    One gang socket with USB

OK, thanks for that. However the boiler is in one corner of the kitchen. The thermostat needs to be over in the living area, maybe 20ft away. Hence it is wireless. All I am looking for is a neat way of plugging in the other end of the USB cable. If it is installed on the wall, the USB cable...

    One gang socket with USB

I'm not sure what the heatlink is? The boiler was installed this year, the thermostat is simply a stand alone unit which is "wireless" except for the USB power/charging lead. It can be wall mounted on the plinth provided or simply left to sit on a shelf or worktop - my daughter wants it on the...

    One gang socket with USB

Can you enlarge on that, because that is what I would really like to do. This NEST thermostat has a USB cable plugged into the back of it, with a USB plug on the other end. At the moment my daughter has it sitting on the kitchen worktop, plugged into a USB socket. It is apparently meant to go...

    One gang socket with USB

I knew there was a reason. Good job I asked, blame the 'flu jab I had today.

    One gang socket with USB

Thinking this through further, is there any reason I cannot cut the USB plug off the remote end of the charger cable and connect into an fcu with a 1amp fuse. A USB lead is just 2 wires I assume, albeit very fine. It seems to be a lot neater?

    One gang socket with USB

Many thanks. Now found a Knightsbridge 13A socket + 1A USB on TLC website which is perfect for the job. Thanks all.

    One gang socket with USB

Found then now on TLC's website, just not in their printed catalogue.

    Yes, found them, many thanks.

    One gang socket with USB

Ha yes. My daughter also has wireless speakers; they need a power feed as well!

    One gang socket with USB

Has anybody come across a one gang socket outlet with a single USB socket (with or without a 3 pin square socket)? Nearest I can find is a one gang plate with 4 x USB's but a bit pricey at £23 + VAT. My daughter wants to plug in a NEST wireless thermostat - which still needs a wired power...

Wired doorbell not loud enough for pensioners

My wife is a little deaf to certain frequencies. I have installed Friedland wireless chime/strobe units, one is a mains plug-in unit in the hallway and a second battery operated unit which usually stands in the kitchen but can be taken anywhere including the back garden. The wireless bell push...

    Anyone recognise this gas fitting?

Just to close this thread, the fitting has been inspected by BG and the loose part confirmed as decorative. No leak and in working order so left as is. Thanks for all the help.

    Anyone recognise this gas fitting?

Many thanks for taking the time for detailed advice. I do have a service contract with BG although it is for the boiler, not for other appliances. The fire has been serviced within the past year - it is usually serviced every autumn because the igniter packs up. Note what you say re Cadent...

    Anyone recognise this gas fitting?

TOFO?? I am going to ask BG to change it anyway as it is supposed to be an isolation valve but to my knowledge it has never been used in the last 20 years so I have my doubts as to whether the valve would turn - or it might fall apart if I did. Since I am decorating the room, it is a good time...
