There is another thhread on this subject and I posted the following text, which has been lifted from the CORGI website, it may help in this thread too:Q: I am a qualified plumber, and have been in the plumbing industry for years. I am, however, not registered with CORGI. Can I install a boiler...

cost for commissioning a combi boiler

Not true. You mustn't install any part of a heating system that may affect the gas safety of the system. At a minimum that includes putting the boiler on the wall and installing the flue. The following is lifted from th eCORGI web site: Q: I am a qualified plumber, and have been in the...

    Central Heating Query

The only possible problem with turning your stop cock off and leaving the heating on is if you have an open vented heating system. The heating header tank will not refill if the level drops for any reason. Having said that: it's very unliley to cause a problem. Turning your stop cock off...

Can you recommend a good condensing combi?

The 828e is a good boiler but quite pricey compared to Worcester Bosch. WB have excellent after sales service. £1450 doesn't sound excessive for the Vaillant installed.

    Excessive rad bleeding

Go back to your expansion pipe and put your hand over the end to see if it's sucking air. If so you may find that your pump is set too high and turning it down will solve the problem. Although corrosion can cause the production of gas in the system it is unlikely to produce the amounts that...

    landlord certificates

Plumber Will, what makes you say that a landlord can't do his own inspections? It's something I have been wondering. I asked my CORGI inspector and he said it shouldn't be a problem; although he could see that it could be a conflict of interests. If you know of something in writing let me...

    gas hob

£40 is fine if all that he has to do is tee into the existing pipe. What if the existing is 15mm and it's not sufficient for the cooker and hob. It may be that the existing pipe needs refitting in 22mm. Or is the fitter going to just fit it and not worry about the poor pressure on the hob...

    Gas pipe size

FWIW, You will need 28mm from the meter to the tee, 22mm from the tee to the boiler and probably (depending on size of cooker and hob) 22mm from tee to cooker and hob tee, posssiby reducing to 15mm from there to appliances. Mave

Do I need a bypass or modulating pump?

It works fine from cold and only has a problem when warmed up. With so many rads with TRVs the pressure and flow is changing dramatically when warmed up. It may be that a more powerfull pump, or one of these: http://www.plumbworld.co.uk/acb/showdetl.cfm?&DID=10&Product_ID=2989&CATID=46 will do...

removing gas fire making safe the gas pipe

As it's under the floor you cant use a compression fitting, it will have to be soldered. Best get gas fitter to do it so that it can be done properly. Also best to remove it completely if you're not going to use it again in the future

Do boiler manufacturers charge for training courses?

Would you like a hand off your horse it seems a bit high? I am a corgi registered gas engineer who's work does not normally include boiler servicing. I am thinking about changing direction and would like to expand my knowledge first. If you're too important to reply then let someone else...

Push fit plastic plumbing sizes and attachments etc.

Yes you can use pushfit fittings straight onto copper. 1/2 inch can be treated the same as 15mm. 3/4 inche can be used in 22mm compression fitting if you use a 3/4 inch olive or use a 3/4-22mm end feed adaptor(or yorkshire). you may find lead in which case you need a lead lock which is a...
