Fan / Humidistat required for slightly damp cellar. Any recommendations?

OK. I've attached a couple of photos of at it's worst below: My cellar is split into 2 "chambers"; the one in the picture is the left hand side, with no window, and is where it seems to be worst. There is no movement of air whatsoever, and hence why I thought of a fan. The front external wall...

Thanks Andy. I'm definitely going to put a fan/vent in.

Fan / Humidistat required for slightly damp cellar. Any recommendations?

I know that tanking/waterproofing is the best solution, but I can't justify the cost - I just want to 'manage' the damp as best I can, and be able to use it for storage / workshop etc. I was hoping that installing a fan to get some air moving might help, maybe that was too optimistic. Thanks...

Fan / Humidistat required for slightly damp cellar. Any recommendations?

Cheers Gents. Can't afford/justify tanking - it's only 6ft 2 high anyway, so would need digging-out/underpinning etc. I just want to store bikes, tools, boxes etc down there - and so want to make it as dry as possible. I guess the thought behind it is just to get some air moving around and...

Sliding compound mitre saw suitable for home DIY use. Rage 3 / Bosch PCM8S?

Thanks mm, I'd overlooked anything under £100 as I thought it would be of poor quality / would burn out easily under load. Have you found the laser accurate enough for general DIY?

Fan / Humidistat required for slightly damp cellar. Any recommendations?

Hello My Victorian terrace has a slightly damp cellar, and a specialist suggested that installing an extractor fan with a humidistat might help - presumably so that it turns itself on whenever it detects a certain level of moisture in the air, and also to encourage the air to 'move'? The...

Sliding compound mitre saw suitable for home DIY use. Rage 3 / Bosch PCM8S?

Hello I am currently renovating / improving my Victorian terrace, and I have new (tall) skirting boards to fit in several rooms, laminate flooring to cut and various other jobs - making a couple of small cabinets etc. It seems that a mitre saw with sliding function would make my life much...

New DIYer - probably an easy question on plaster....

Cheers Roy. I've stuck a pen in it, and gently dug a bit out. The first 10mm was quite 'sandy', and then some bigger chunks were behind it. There's also some green/emerald patches that haven't peeled off with the anaglypta paper; these can be see in the photos, and also the remains on the...

New DIYer - probably an easy question on plaster....

Thanks for the reply, Roy. It's almost as if there's a thin layer of paper on the back of the wallpaper (but they pull off together). I thought it might be some kind of plasterboard, and that the wallpaper had been directly stuck on. Any ideas on how what to do with it after removing the...

New DIYer - probably an easy question on plaster....

Hello (and Merry Christmas)! I am a new homeowner, and have recently purchased a Victorian terrace (c. 1900) with textured wallpaper/anaglypta on most walls. I have removed the paper in the lounge to find a light greyish wall, which I assume is normal plaster and 'skimmable': However, I...
