Constant (small) stream of water running thru tundish.

Thanks for that I checked the expansion tank, and the pressure is 2.75 bar (40 psi). This is below the 3.5 bar its supposed to be pressurised to. Would this .75 bar pressure drop be enough to cause the water run?

To be honest, I didnt even know these needed an annual service. Is it a costly fix?

Constant (small) stream of water running thru tundish.

Hi, I have a Santon Premierplus unvented tank, about 10 years old. The immersion heater has never worked, and Im about to get someone in to have a look at it. I noticed the problem below when I got to the tank While I was looking around the tank, I heard water running and noticed a...

Central Heating tripping out the Electric

Thanks for your post, and its obvious sarcastic content. I am always a person who wants to have a go at fixing things myself. I'm big and ugly enough to know when I'm out of my depth and to back off, but like most things, it wasn't hard to demystify the workings of the boiler (with some...

Central Heating tripping out the Electric

You mean the Wilo pump that I mentioned earlier and you replied to? :) Far from "Suddenly rushing out", I spent several hours researching pumps, and had a shortlist with exactly the spec of the original. I then visited three plumbing and heating stores, and asked their advice before...

Central Heating tripping out the Electric

I'll answer my own question  All sorted. Bought some polythene washers and ditched the rubber ones. As soon as I tightened both the large nuts to the pump flanges, the rubber washers deformed and failed to seal. Obviously the plastic washers being stiffer, didnt. 2 hours...

Central Heating tripping out the Electric

It doesnt rain but it pours!! :? Went out and got a replacement Wilo Smart pump. Direct replacement for the Wilo Gold 60. I had hoped to just replace the front without having to unbolt the whole unit from the pipework, but the back fitting is different on the inside and has a circular...

Central Heating tripping out the Electric

I'm not even sure if thats the case \\tony, the pump is very quiet, and its hard to tell when its on and when its off. Anyways. After greasing the joints around the pump and electrical box, I reconnected everything, and it ran fine for about an hour. Then the RCD tripped again. So its...

Central Heating tripping out the Electric

Problem solved. Being the inquisitive bugger I am, I pulled the burner off and virtually stipped it down on the worktop. Oil pump was a little gunged up, so that got a good cleaning. Apart from that, eveything was like new even though the unit is 10 years old. This was baffling, as the...

Central Heating tripping out the Electric

OK, now I'm really getting concerned. I took off the burner cover, and removed the solenoid. The burner fan came on, and the unit ran no problem for several minutes before I turned it off. Great, it must be the Solenoid. I checked the Solenoid, and it looked like new. Pulled the power...

Central Heating tripping out the Electric

WOw, All these replies came in as I was typing that last post :) I ran out to the garage just to check the brand and it is as above. Seems to be a concensus on 2 possible culprits? The power is tripping at the RCB. Really appreciate your replies, thankyou. Anyone like to advise...

Central Heating tripping out the Electric

Thanks. Thats very helpful. I'll try and check both. The ignition leads at fault would make sense, given that the burner seems to go through its preburn bit. It seems to trip the electric right at the point the unit would usually fire up. Would that be when the ignition leads would fire...

Central Heating tripping out the Electric

Hi all. I'm hoping someone can help with advice with this particular problem. I have an oil fired central heating system and a pressurised mains fed water supply. Tonight, after being away for a few days, I pressed the water heater button on the programmer, and after about 20 seconds...
