Middle East here we go again

It's possible that one day, all men on earth will unite and stop fighting each other. But first we'll need some space aliens to fight with.

    Guarantee?

arggh, don't get me started. o2 "sent my phone away for repair" the other day. yes, sent it away, like it's a frivolity I don't really need, not that I'm running a goddam business here or anything. why am I paying "insurance" FFS? Orange really took the biscuit though, back in '02 I'm...

    Why bother working?

and thats great, I support it, but there are limits. The distinction must be that the system isn't there to cater for people who can't be bothered to contribute. They are whats known as dead weight. They must be incentivised to work, possibly through work schemes, and any determined not to...

    SCAM

thats the most disgraceful thing of all, that the organisation aren't blacklisted by the credit cards own fraud teams- you think it'd be in their own intrest. BTW everyone, the banks CAN stop a direct debit for you and prevent an organistion taking any more money - the mere suggestion they...

    RCD keeps tripping

Have you tried isolating the shower which I assume is wired correctly with a DP isolator before resetting the RCD? Obvious one but worth asking... If there's damp getting into the shower it may still "hold" the RCD until others circuits are energised which push N current back through the...

    Market Leader

The basic LCD displays in sony and samsung tv's come off the same production line, many also find their way into own-brand/ cheapobrand TV's which are (I suspect without permission) advertised as having a samsung branded panel. But yeah samsung LCD is currently seen as the one to go for...

Old style earth ring and Part P inspection

When twin & earth first started being used for lighting circuits, some of the ol' boys just chopped the earth off and continued as they'd done before with twin. Presumably the separate earth has been retro-fitted.

Leave shower pullcord on or off?

Like flameport says, no decent switch should "wear out" any time soon. Seen 'em used by 4 people showering daily last 10 years. It's good practice to switch 'em off... that said, many are left on permanantly, like cooker switches or many, many other appliances, and nothing terrible ever...

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Good grief.

Oh, I'm so with you on that one. I'd make myself such a constant annoyance to government, from representation for over zealous parking tickets all the way to showing that the failure of our police to deal with crime voids the understanding that we surrender our moral right to take retribution...

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Good grief.

What, like most religions? It's probably a good job you don't have the time, isn't it?

Where should I put bathroom fan

The fan will work best as near to the ceiling as possible, where the steam is. If you can't drill through there I'd look to mount the fan high and duct down to the exit.

    Calling all Sparks...

I sat down and did some figures once, a fully equipped electrician can easily spend 10-12 fat ones a year just to provide the service. Thats over £200/week, every week, that has to be earnt before we start making any wages This I'd classify separately as downtime, inc callbacks to people...

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Good grief.

[/url] Ha, I can't believe someone get in enough of a flap to go to the ASA. It's a take-it-or-leave-it product for a market thats subjective and often obsessive by nature. I've heard a £50,000 "record player" - turntable, amps and speakers, and of course, the all-important premium leads...

    Calling all Sparks...

not as good as running a TV shop. I bought a telly this year that cost £1150, yet it only took 5 minutes in the shop! That means the guy in the TV shop must be earning £1150 every 5 minutes, which is £13,800 per hour! :o

    Why bother working?

Nope. There are requirements for what is regarded as the "minimum basic standard of living", but the way I see it, anyone "in need" of handouts should be gratefull for a bed and a meal and has no fundamental right to anything.

    Why bother working?

Does anyone have the nag that someone, somewhere is trying to deliberately anger people? Why, and what do they hope to achieve?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Good grief.

You can also have your house rewired by £50/day labourers that you won't be able to communicate with, but they will install 5 sockets for the price a qualified spark would charge for 1, so does that make it better?

    Replacing fridge and freezer wires/cords

If you take one of the old crimps to somewhere like maplins I expect they'd be able to sell you the right size spade crimp and a crimping tool, if not the RS trade counter in bow will have them.

When to fit type C RCBOs?

Yes I could have perhaps phrased that better such as most typical RCBO's in general use will be SP, but I did mention & recommend DP RCBO's for the downstream board though.
