There should only be a one pair cable coming in from outside. This will be coloured probably blue with white on it and white with blue on it.

If the only way in is by smashing the glass I would suggest a break glass detector or even a pir in the room the skylight leads too

Thanks eighty two. The panel I'm putting in is Texecom premier and going to wire in resistors for everything but the smoke detectors, am I correct in thinking then that I need to program all zones as zone wiring double pole / eol apart from the smoke detectors which will be wired as normally...
