50mm insulation ok for a 80mm bathroom stud wall? (rock wool slabs)

Yes, that's why I mentioned there seems to be 2 schools of thought on this. Was hoping this forum could decide for me

Is this gap need filling/expansion foam?

Do you mean look for missing insulation in the edge of the loft board above? Or on the end of that partition wall? It does face brickwork from what I can tell

Is this gap need filling/expansion foam?

So I should try and stuff some rock wool there? Or insulation foam between the external wall and end of partition wall?

Is this gap need filling/expansion foam?

Yeah, it hasn't affected anything in years so will just leave it. I did notice the old insulation that was there was a bit dark (possibly mould?) in that corner so not sure if this related

Is this gap need filling/expansion foam?

Hi, this is the top of a bathroom partition wall. Splits between bathroom/bedroom and ends onto an external wall. There's some gaps around it and wondered if it needs any expansion foam to fill the small voids?

50mm insulation ok for a 80mm bathroom stud wall? (rock wool slabs)

Yes, got soundproofing insulation (attached photo on reply above). And yes, hopefully it won't have water or moisture inside the partition once all the wall goes up. The only chance is that the side of the partition faces an external wall with potential air slipping in from the side?

50mm insulation ok for a 80mm bathroom stud wall? (rock wool slabs)

Its a partition stud wall. Bedroom one side, bathroom the other. The depth of the stud is actually about 70mm hence why I originally bought 50mm insulation pads. But now decided to add 18mm battens on the face of the studs to build it out deeper so I can fit a niche. It's plasterboard facing...

50mm insulation ok for a 80mm bathroom stud wall? (rock wool slabs)

Hi, I've seen online people recommending tightly packing in insulation and others saying leaving a little gap especially on the shower/wet walls. Stud walls only 80mm so have bought 50mm but now wondering whether I should have got 100mm and either jam or in or trim it

Am I in deep poo poo? Mould underside of chipboard in bathroom

If it was just losing and replacing a couple of sheets of chipboard. I'd done it by now. But to get to it, I would need to lift up the flooring on the other room. Will likely damage at least one to two boards (which I don't have a direct replacement) and then cut out 18mm ply to get to the...

Am I in deep poo poo? Mould underside of chipboard in bathroom

Yes, I'm at a crossroad and torn between the two. I think I will at first cut out more of the floor joist so I can really fit my arm through and give it a good clean and test. Might even be able to dry it and then apply zinnser mould primer or something

Am I in deep poo poo? Mould underside of chipboard in bathroom

Within the bathroom (the area I've cut down) I'm putting ply and then backer - then porcelain tiles outside bathtub and looking at maybe just tanking under the bathtub area

Am I in deep poo poo? Mould underside of chipboard in bathroom

So took some normal (not close up) photos of the area. Any thoughts on this please? There seems to be two school of thoughts on this. One says once chipboards wet, remove it. Better safe than sorry. The other says, worth spraying bleach solution to see if it's just on the surface. If it...

Am I in deep poo poo? Mould underside of chipboard in bathroom

So it went mouldy as a result of a slow leak from the bath tub. Soaked thought he subfloor, hence I cut out all the damaged area and was hoping I could just lay new subfloor until I spotted this on the underside of the subfloor thats on the other side of the joists (next room). I've tried a...

Am I in deep poo poo? Mould underside of chipboard in bathroom

Hi, renovating bathroom due to discovering leak in the bath. Thought I had cut out all the damp damaged flooring. But thought I would be thorough and use a endoscope to see what's on the underside and other side of the partition walls. Wish I hadn't now!!! If it still feels sturdy (hard...

Can I fix this without taking the wall down?

Yes, that's right. I did wonder earlier whether it would be safe to cut out a section of the floor plate and add a nogging above to support the vertical studs. That way, I can cut out more of the chipboard and hopefully can slide a smallish beam through the cut out section and help support the...

Can I fix this without taking the wall down?

Really appreciate your help especially at that time in the morning! AHH I see, you mean cut out the red hatched section and screw roughly at the green dots? The studs are only about 700mm so will only provide a 350mm space to work with. If not enough, I may cut the whole thing and add a...
