Chasing cable in Lath & Plaster wall.

It's an upstairs kids bedroom so not a major issue re. aesthetics.

Chasing cable in Lath & Plaster wall.

It's an electrical cable following some remedials last year. I can't cut it to fish it behind so I guess I'm stuck with trunking.

Chasing cable in Lath & Plaster wall.

Hi I'm getting a room skimmed over tomorrow. I currently have a wire that is external fixed in trunking parallel with the door frame so doesn't look to bad... I was going to try and chase it into the wall but a trial cut shows its lath and plaster. Would you bother? I'm thinking cutting...

    Outdoor Floodlight

I'd have to experiment. The first half of the drive might be enough. Good point though.

    Outdoor Floodlight

Lots of people have them on my road. I know because I set some of them off when I walk the dog! It's pretty common I'd say and nothing out the ordinary. I think the key is to get the angle right so it points right down. I wouldn't want to annoy the neighbour opposite or drivers. Yes I think...

    Outdoor Floodlight

Just the driveway - about 10 metres or so.

    Outdoor Floodlight

Yes for brightness - I've seen some 10w which I think might not be enough.

    Outdoor Floodlight

Of course - thanks. I think I'll fit it with a plug initially and then get it hard wired next time the spark is in doing other things. I'm guessing with LED it needs to be a min of 20W?

    Outdoor Floodlight

    Outdoor Floodlight

Hi - I want to install a PIR floodlight above the garage. Is it acceptable to have a plug in light in these situations? I have sockets in the garage. If not the consumer unit is also in the garage so could get a sparky in. Cheers

    Bathroom Paint and Poor Ventilation

Possibly it did start to peel off as soon as I cleaned of the black damp areas. That area of ceiling is directly above a very hot shower that is used up to four times a day. I intend to use dulux bathroom paint when I do it and a base coat - just watered down emulsion.

    Bathroom Paint and Poor Ventilation

Evening I have a bad condensation issue in the bathroom - soon to be improved with a new window and extractor. However I have an issue with the paint peeling off to the plaster on the ceiling and exposed walls that aren't tiled. Obviously there is a slight difference in level. So when I...

2 or 3 door panel for 4.1m sliding door system?

I used a small firm and bought some windows at the same time I think the patio door was about £1100 fitted. The profile is Selecta.

External wooden door in a UPVC frame/porch??

The cheapest an easiest option available to you is to replace it with a UPVC door that you do like. Or if you like the aesthetics of wood go for a nice composite. A decent wooden door would probably be as expensive if not more and would take some carpentry skills to fit in your current...

2 or 3 door panel for 4.1m sliding door system?

I know this is an old post now but I can advise as our opening at the back is a similar size. 2500mm is higher than normal - they will probably want to use a spacer to get the height down. Basically at this size you are probably governed by what the manufacturers can/will do in UPVC. We went...

    Alarm Ideas

Great that's the sort of info I need to start the research. I'd seen the Yale ones but didn't think much to them! I don't know why just didn't seem right... EDIT - found some useful info: http://benchmarkmagazine.com/intruder-test-texecom-ricochet/ Seems well priced as well.

    Alarm Ideas

Hi thanks secure I am - I rarely see him but even if I rang him I know he would talk me into a wired one! If I was going down the wired route I would ask him to supply and fit. He maintained the one in my old house. I just thought there might be a feasible wireless DIY option these days...

    Alarm Ideas

Hi Alan the existing is actually wireless but there's nothing left except 1 PIR and the bell/control panel. It's this one below! I could go wired but the door sensors I the important ones and it will be tricky to run cables to them I think.

    Alarm Ideas

Good afternoon I'm looking for recommendations to replace my old defective alarm system. I would be looking for a wireless setup with 3 No. Door sensors, and 3 No. PIR to start with. The PIR should be able to be disabled and in their own zone. I'd be looking for something expandable and...
