How can I seal wooden cladding on bathroom ceiling?

Why not fill all gaps with a paintable sealant and paint over?

    Sticky Residue on Wood Door

I take it you don't know what it is residue of? White spirit shifts an awful lot of sticky stuff, at the expense of stinking out the house if used inside, possibly for several days. Try on a patch, preferably with the door outside if possible?

    Which door strip for mat/laminate?

Yes those aluminium screwed ones look horrible, do they not. If you google "threshold strip without screws" you should be able to find many types which either have self-adhesive strips underneath to stick directly to the subfloor or come in two parts, the lower being screwed or stuck to the...

    Soak away distance from outbuildings?

Didn't know there were different types...I know they dug a hole and put stones or gravel down but I don't know any more I'm afraid.

    Soak away distance from outbuildings?

Didn't know that rule! But when I bought my house five years ago and had the drive relaid with block paving, including the shared part with my neighbour, the installers dug a new soakaway for the drainpipe between our garages where there was none before - see pic. Previously there was just...

Gap under skirting: caulk or ignore?

If the gap is uniform, you could try some sort of trim: a moulding painted accordingly, perhaps, or a plastic trim that could be pushed under the skirting. However much I try siliconing or caulking, it rarely looks good, even using the various tools you can get for smoothing it. But if the gap...

Can anyone offer information about this cover?

Extremely heavy with the block paviours. I lift them out one by one, keeping them in the same configuration nearby, before lifting the tray they sit in.

Preparing and varnishing garden room - tips for sanding

I've just repainted my 5x4 metre garden room, which doesn't have overlapping panels. I couldn't bear the work of sanding, even lightly to provide a key, so I used HG Liquid Sander diluted 10-1 and scrubbed on with a dustpan brush then rinsed off with a hosepipe and more brushing where...

External Silicone Sealant that doesn't Shrink?

Do you really want silicone sealant? I tend to avoid if possible because not paintable. Five years ago I replaced doors and windows in my brick-built garage and used white Screwfix No Nonsense exterior frame sealant (acrylic and paintable) around them. After about four years it had shrunk...

    Guttering accumulation of Pine Needles

I've had decent results with the Screwfix 68030, cleaning manually maybe twice a year. Not sure what you expect? BTW what's with the Unnecessary Capitals?

Removing Parquet Flooring and Replacing with a Screed

Engineered oak flooring is nice - just fitted such a floor myself - but so is parquet. Have you considered sanding, or having sanded, the existing parquet? My current house had it on most of the ground floor, in very poor condition. 35 square metres. Had it professionally sanded for £600 in 2019...

Can I fit skirting with just nails?

Just fitted new skirting over new wooden flooring in a small room, 2.8m x 2.2m. I used just two screws for each of three lengths and one screw for the fourth and shortest length, which has a door, filling in and overpainting the screw holes. This was screwing into 50mm wide battens that I'd...

    Stair runner

Another suggestion is to fix a length of 6mm quadrant moulding (assuming you can't get a 5mm one) to the top of each bullnose, then cut rectangular panels of ply to fit snugly between those and the backs of the treads. Sand off the 1mm to make level with the ply. That would not be great but...

External wall/doorway/cladding - how to fix this? (See photos)

Off topic: I don't wish to worry you but keyboxes like the one you have there are very easily broken into, without any tools needed. See YouTube and upgrade, is my advice!

    High/ low modules silicone

Widows are more stretchy? I'll take your word for it.

    Securing Mains Cable

If there's room, you could attach a strip of 12.5mm ply or similar to the brickwork - a few screws and plugs or maybe even just some blobs of adhesive would do - and then nail the cable clips into that.

    Gillette blades

Gillette Mach 3 Turbo (3 blades) but like others I have never found out what the turbo bit is. Actually maybe I have: it refers to the time taken between anointing face with shaving gel/foam and bristles becoming soft enough to shave easily. Otherwise known as turbo lag.

    Beach & History Holiday Recommendations

And to respond to Mottie's suggestion: yes Barcelona is wonderful but is now one of those places like Venice that is touristed to death.

    Beach & History Holiday Recommendations

Was going to suggest Malta but wobs has beaten me to it. Yes there are lots of mass-market seafront hotels but there is also plenty of culture and Valletta is nicely historical. Had an enjoyable family trip there some years ago.

Lead flashing just completed and still leaking!

Awful work. What would the actual difference be between rectifying the current work and getting it all re-done properly? I don't see how you could rectify without a full re-work.
