Best way of spuring off a cooker circuit for 13AMP microwave

Hi I want to swap a built-in double oven for a separate single oven (3.6KW) and combination microwave (3KW) both of which will be built into to same space and connected to my 30AMP cooker circuit. The existing wiring is a 30AMP MCB radial circuit to 45AMP cooker switch/socket (MK) with...

Scale build-up around isolating valves lock nuts

Hi - been checking the airing cupboard and found the isolating valves either side of my CH pump (28mm) have scale and rust build-up around the lock screws in the brass fitting - should I be worried about this? Best way to get rid of it? Also, a gate valve (isolating the hot feed to a shower...

    3-way valve problem

Thanks for the advice - I took the motor out of the actuator and manually moved the lever back and forward for a few minutes then lubricated the spindle. This seems to have cured the problem. All ok now - thanks. BTW - it looks like it would be easy to cannibilise a new actuator to...

    3-way valve problem

Hi I think I have a problem with a 3-way valve and would appreciate your advice - thanks My system is fully pumped and uses a 3-way ACL Lifestyle valve (779H340). All was working well until I decided to flush and clean the CH and replace X100. CH is now much quieter and rads get...

How to isolate CU from mains

Hi - I want to add a new ring and MCB to my existing Hagar CU. I have spare slots for this and understand what's involved. My question is how to isolate the CU before opening and working on it. I assume that just switching off the master red switch in the CU is insufficient for complete...

Suprima APS failure when case closed and sealed - advice?

Problem Solved - at last I removed the fan for the second time and carried out a more thorough clean including unscrewing the short metal pipe that connects the APS to the FAN. Although this wasn't blocked there was some dust and I think this was preventing reliable suction from FAN to APS...

Suprima APS failure when case closed and sealed - advice?

Are you sure? This a huba (80) not a Honeywell. It looks like a small smoke detector and is mounted flat against the wall between the fan and the PCB. Looking at it from the front the red pipe is on the left connected to P1.

Suprima APS failure when case closed and sealed - advice?

Suprima APS failure when case closed and sealed - advice?

Ok quick question for you: Which way round do the pressure pipes go to a Huba APS: Is the following correct: P1 is high pressure / lower vacuum so connected to fan P2 is low pressure / high vac so connected to open pipe into case Suprima 80 is a negative pressure boiler I'm...

Suprima APS failure when case closed and sealed - advice?

My CORGI man returned and confirmed that he had indeed set the gas pressure to the correct value - 13.9 mbar using a nanometer. The boiler is in fact a Suprima 80 not an 80L as originally stated - the previous owner of the house gave me documentation for an 80L and I always assumed this to be...

Suprima APS failure when case closed and sealed - advice?

Thanks Baxpoti - you are corerct, the data plate shows 13.9 and 10.4 (upper and lower limits)? Is the pressure likely to be too high - could this be causing my problems? I have no way of testing this Thanks

Suprima APS failure when case closed and sealed - advice?

No - I think he just bolted it on. I was expecting some adjustment of the min/max screws but don't think this has been done. Gas flames are very strong (high) compared to how was before. Thanks for the quick response

Suprima APS failure when case closed and sealed - advice?

Hi I recently returned from a holiday to find my Potterton Surprima 80L would not light (turned off water and main power whilst away). The boiler had been fine for 2 years and has been serviced so I was somewhat surprised. Spark is ok. Suspecting the usual dry joints, I replaced the...
