The existing frame height where my doors are now will be hidden as I want to fit the new steel in the ceiling so you can't see where the extension is? So a new frame height shouldn't cause a problem though should it?

I am assuming that the bottom of the beam will be sitting at plate height. So from my floor to the bottom of the beam will be over 2500mm. Is there anything that can be fitted under the beam to make up space ?
