    Reduce depth of kitchen unit

On a 500mm unit I was not going to support it? If I felt it was required I would use supports either side.

    Reduce depth of kitchen unit

Hello, I would like to know if you can reduce the depth of a kitchen unit without too many problems? I want a breakfast bar on a return part of the kitchen. I have 800 mm of space otherwise it will sit proud of the bi fold doors. I would like the unit to be 500mm deep with an overhang of 300mm...

    Hidden rsj

The existing frame height where my doors are now will be hidden as I want to fit the new steel in the ceiling so you can't see where the extension is? So a new frame height shouldn't cause a problem though should it?

    Hidden rsj

Thanks the reply. My resons behind this is my bricklayer suggested keeping my frame height the same as existing on my extension. I have suggested to drop it by around 50mm. By doing so this would allow me to sit my other steam beam at a 'T' angle ontop of the steel beam used over the bifold...

    Hidden rsj

Thanks woody, I was also looking at 2 other points before I set my frame height; 1- if an rsj is higher than my floor height can the joist be dropped slightly lower. I have seen info on rha hangers but is this uk approved? 2- can steels beams be joined any other way at right angles other than...

    Hidden rsj

Hi, I have not yet installed my steel beams as to where I will knock through to my extension. I was wondering if you any one would be able to tell me whether it is always possible to have the steels in the ceiling so I don't have the 'extension look' with steel beams boxed in and plastered all...

    203 x 203 uc steel

I am assuming that the bottom of the beam will be sitting at plate height. So from my floor to the bottom of the beam will be over 2500mm. Is there anything that can be fitted under the beam to make up space ?

    203 x 203 uc steel

Hi thanks guys. It's 4600 but building above it and taking another steel off this beam. All makes sense now. Is it possible once the beam is fitted to drop the height underneath as I am looking into bi fold doors and the max height is around 2500. This is borderline where the bottom of the beam...

    203 x 203 uc steel

Hi I have just had my calculations/ drawings back from my SE. Above the by fold door he has put to fit a 203x203 x 60kg uc with 300x12mm plate welded to bottom flange. This was only drawn to be fitted on the inner leaf. A universal beam will be supported from this uc but my question is what...

    Day light angles

Hi I am hoping to build a 2 story rear extension. I have received some information regarding daylight angles from the council. What I would like to know is whether my neighbours converted garage with French doors would count from where I take my 45 degree angle from or would it be from his main...

    1 meter rule?

Thanks for reply. Here is a picture of where I want to extend. As you have stated I found waiting 3 months for a response for ore planning advise a complete waste of time.

    1 meter rule?

Hello, I am hoping to build above the whole width of my garage. The side of the garage is on the boundary. My house is detached and my neighbours house next to the garage is a semi chalet style house, which is about 3 meters from the boundary. After visiting the council office they said I...
