Laying Engineered wood on wet ufh

Thanks L19 is the way with Laybond. After speaking to the suppliers again, they admitted they have learnt something. After digging around in their technical data they find that the Timbertech they were advising me to go with is not suitable for ufh and that glue should be used. I questioned...

Laying Engineered wood on wet ufh

I have a nice dry cement sand screed which I want to fit an engineered click wood floor to. The screed as expected has slight undulations of 2-3mm and in some areas I have used self levelling compound to bring it all fairly level. I doubt that using SLC over the whole floor will get it any...

My New Home Cinema & Refurb.

Youre absolutely right, its a nightmare trying to choose a system from scratch. I have got the nod from the boss that a projector and plasma is good. But she doesnt want to watch easybenders on a 10' screen. Your Denon has one HDMI output so how did you connect the TV and projector, unless...

My New Home Cinema & Refurb.

Looks great. I will be doing something like this in the near future. Any details like are you using an AV receiver or what youre connecting the projector to or is it all networked, will be a massive help. My big question right now is isnt a 50" plasma big enough. I was going down the...

    Complacency

I have been to A&E on more than 1 or 4 occasions to have bits of grinding wheel and metal pulled out of my eyes. I always wear glasses now but its too late for that one speck thats still there. Annoyingly I can see it one word ahead of the the one Im reading.

    foundations near to trees

Speak to your building control office. They will probably say dig your trench and then they will inspect it. They're the ones that will sign it off. You could do with putting more info on here. If your building is more than 10m your OK but you need to tell us that. :? Besides, as above.

    What are these called?

I think I found the limit. Wish I could work out this quote thingy though. Just wipped a couple of those chiller flaps out of the skip at work. Cut them into strips and used them as a joist to WBS sound deadener. They also brought the boards upto just the right height.

    Handrail diameter

The reviews I read said the smaller dia was for a 'power grip' on steep stairs. I have to admit the regs were brought in for disabled access and apply more so on public access. But why do private houses have to comply with disabled regs such as switch heights? Anyway BC didnt like it much...

    Handrail diameter

BS 8300:2009 + A1:2010. 5.10.3 Handrail dimensions and spacings (p30) Oval profile dimensions have changed by 1mm to 50mm wide and 39mm deep (from 38mm). Circular handrail diameter has been increased to between 32mm and 50mm (formerly maximum was 45mm). Clearance between handrail and...

    Thank Goodness!

Where I work we are right now going to a zero access policy at great expence. That means no access in anyway to moving machinery without 'very' tight controls. Most of our incidents are slips and trips but as we all know if a trip accident on a paving slab happens, the blame and indeed the root...

    Handrail diameter

Just in case anyone reads this- The regs were updated this year and handrail diameters are now 32 to 45mm. This is to reflect the fact that the 32mm (1 1/4") dia gives a stronger grip and is best used on steep stairs. Heres a pic of what Ive made so far. Handrail still to fit.
