    Yellow pages

I am just about to for the first time. Cost is £211 for a decent size box but it varies depending on section you go into, some have specials, proberly the ones they are having trouble filling. It may vary from area to area also. Don't know if it will pay off, heard so many different...

    interior door

I doubt anyone here can help you find someone to do your door, as it is a UK based site. It is not that difficult to cut out a door for hinges, all you really need is a hammer & chisel. Read up on it first and then try on a piece of spare wood, may take a few goes but you will get there...

This might make you wince slightly

Most self employed have this fear at the back of their minds, it's always a worry. My son fell over, caught his thumb broke it in 2 places, was told to have at least 6 weeks off. He was back at work within 5 days expensive divorce, he just couldn't afford time off. He is now realising the...

    Finger Jointing Bit

With most adjustable router cutters it sounds more complicated than it really is, once you have done a couple, it's surprising how simple it really is. Don't forget you will be cutting on end grain, so you will need to cut into a piece of scrap to avoid breakout. Good luck

Not DIY but HELP! Problems with builders!

Stop them from doing anymore work. Get someone in to inspect what's already been done and give you a written report. I always believed that construction work in the U.S. was heavily regulated and that there was always inspections of work being done.

    Noisy Neighbours

This is a real pain in the bum situation, which I've been through 3 times. How old is the daughter? How well do you get on with her parents? Do you get noise late at night / early morning? Is there a real chance she will move out or is that just wishful thinking? Are the parents...

    worktop cutting

If you want to pontificate, you go right ahead, if you are over 18 it's perfectly legal. What you read in the Wickes leaflet is correct and the simplist way to do it. If you have a decent jigsaw and take the cut steady you can cut from the laminate with a medium cut blade, with minimium...

    Wooden Flooring Dilema

You might be lucky in matching boards at a reclamation yard but expect to pay, they are not cheap. I also got through a lot more sanding disks than I thought I would. Like most, it turned into an expensive project.

    Shed roof

After all the stuff you have already done, felting a shed roof is a doddle.

    looking for stuff

I have noticed that breezer seems to be coming back with slap on the wrist comments. He is right, some of the questions are just laziness. It must take longer to post than it would look through the yellow pages, which if nothing else would be local.

    How to find a carpenter.....

If it's not a big job, try shop windows not ideal I know but I know 2 retired tradesmen who get work this way for pin money, both are excellent at what they do. There must be similar in most areas.

    Thinking about buying a router?

To all those who are maybe thinking on the purchase of a router, can I offer this tip, go for the larger 1/2 capacity. Unless you have a need for the smaller size. The larger machine is more heavy but you quickly get use to this, the weight can also be an advantage on occasions. To my mind...

    Dodgy phone calls

I was getting at least one call a day, mostly won a holiday, double glazing sort. One evening I got three the last one really got it, which paid off as he gave me a number to phone which would stop 99% of unwanted calls. I cannot find the number (sorry) but he did tell me that almost all...
