HELP - 3million gallons of water gone through my watermeter!

i have checked the dial turning when everything is shut off. I timed the meter for 5mins and then from that calculated 1m3 increase on the meter every 12.5hrs. If the meter had been moving at this rate the whole time, it would take something like 18yrs to get to the current figure therefore...

HELP - 3million gallons of water gone through my watermeter!

i am reading black numbers only, the only reason we knew it was high was when the guy from the water board came to read it and slapped the 14day notice on us.

HELP - 3million gallons of water gone through my watermeter!

not checked the meter today yet, its right next to the road with no paved access and is pretty dangerous to read during peak travel hours. Maybe i should have just given the meter reading instead of the number of gallons to avoid any confusion. I was just stating the volume that the amount...

HELP - 3million gallons of water gone through my watermeter!

Sorry WDIK, didnt see you comment about the reservoir!! Thats my exact point though, where the hell has all this water gone to and why havent we had a drop in domestic volume flowrate?!?! I checked the meter yesterday with my household stopcock closed and calculated that it was spinning at...

HELP - 3million gallons of water gone through my watermeter!

cheers WDIK, so 13,100m3*220 = 2,882,000 which is around 3m gallons. So back to my questions, is it possible to have this volume of water leak in such a short space of time and not have any reduction in volume flowrate/pressure to the household supply and no evidence of leaks outside eg...

HELP - 3million gallons of water gone through my watermeter!

meter reading in June = 32m3 meter reading at weekend = 13,100m3 cubed root of 12,100m3 is 23m. Therefore volume of water is approx 23x23x23m. 13,100m3 = 13,100,000litres = 2,977,272gallons did i do my maths wrong?

ps, i am assuming by the spindle, you mean the shaft that comes from the valve tap handle and goes down into the valve.

Main water stop valve leaking in new build house help

We moved into our house in November 2007 - we are the first people to live there and it was built by an independant builder so no NHBC etc to call. We thought that the downstairs cupboard suffered from a bit of damp after my fiancees shoes got a bit of mould on them, however recently we...

Sudden loss of flow rate to kitchen and all appliances

On sunday evening for some reason we had a loss of water pressure to the kitchen taps, washing machine, dishwasher and outside tap (they all come off the same feed). I assumed it was the entire house and contacted the waterboard but then i checked the other rooms and they are fine. Main...

major headache over 2 lights connected to 1 switch

Ive got a new house with the new wiring colour codes. I have 2 ceiling lights which had a rose screwed to the ceiling. I changed one of the lights for a new fancy one and it was very straight forward - only 1 cable so i simply took the rose out and used a junction box to make fitting...

can i fit a press equalising valve to a thermostatic shower?

Am considering ways to regulate the volume flowrate to the shower, as hot and cold are the same bore pipe, reducing pressure would reduce volume flowrate. I thought about a pressure reduction valve to coldwater feed but not sure. The volume flowrate restrictor in the cold water restricts the...

2 new showers with different problems

yeh i know, but even though i wrote pressure earlier is it pressure problem? It wasnt a pressure reduction valve he put in, more like a reducer but if you make the pipe smaller surely that increases the pressure??? Confusing...

2 new showers with different problems

i wish i knew exactly, i believe it was in the cold water feed though. The strange thing is that the water tap now only turns about a 1/4 of what it used to so im wondering if it was placed there as a mechanical stop... This was the downstairs shower btw, which worked perfect with the cold...

2 new showers with different problems

unfortunately no pic. But it was a circular green plastic that was about the size of 2x5p stuck together. Its pattern inside was a bit like looking at a maze from above if that makes any sense??
