Will take a look at the switch when I get home tonight. A few other points I thought might be worth mentioning is that after removing the panel which covers the bottom of the boiler i noticed a build up of damp residue similar to mould forming at the rear of the panel. Could this be as a...

Potterton Puma 100(E) Burning smell is back!!

I believe it is a new potterton PCB. Came in a sealed Interpart box with "genuine part for BAXI . Potterton" written on the side. Last year after the gas man replaced the wax diverter valve he also replaced the pump. I woulkd like to think these parts last a little longer than 12 months a...

Coul it be the fan. I mention this as I have notice a rather loud rattling noise recently. The noise is coming from the boiler cover but could it be the fan that is generating this noise. And the could this same fan be responsible for the burning smell we keep getting. ANy thoughts would be...

I recently needed to replace the PCB on my Potterton Puma 100(E) after it had burnt out. I understand this is a common problem with this particular model of combi boiler. I installed the new board on Tues. This morning however, I noticed a burning smell coming from the boiler. The smell was...

    Soil excavation work £££?

Yes i have been told that the foundations will allow for this amount of soil to be excavated. A few years ago new steel joists were inserted in to the house. Ideally i want to have the minimum ceiling height of 7ft in place. Due to the uneven ground this would require between 2-3ft being...

HELP!!! Oven broke after flicking MCB switch to OFF

Removed the first panel at the rear of the oven but no trip switch. Could it be located behind the fan? If so that will require removing a second panel and possibly the fan, this looks like a task for perhaps a qualified electrician???

HELP!!! Oven broke after flicking MCB switch to OFF

I have changed the fuse on the plug twice, but still no luck. Removed the rear panel from inside the oven but unable to locate any reset switch. Plugged the kettle into the same socket which worked fine. The options appear to be running out.

HELP!!! Oven broke after flicking MCB switch to OFF

Thanks folks for the replies folks. Do you mean the panels at the rear of the oven? That is where both the fan and oven light are positioned. Will give it a go tonight and see if this switch exists. Does 410v output sound right for a plug socket i tested a couple of other plugs in the flat...

HELP!!! Oven broke after flicking MCB switch to OFF

Have tested the socket and the voltage output is 410v. So i imagine the problem is with the oven. My reason for flicking the circuit breaker to off was to change a light bulb which i thought was on the same circuit. The light bulb has two switches> I wasn't sure whether the light was on or...

HELP!!! Oven broke after flicking MCB switch to OFF

Sorry folks am yet to get my hands on a continuity tester. However, i did read somewhere that the fan element sometimes goes on the Diplomat ovens. Could this be the root of my problem. Or should i stick with the socket testing first? thanks

HELP!!! Oven broke after flicking MCB switch to OFF

Not sure the previous owner left a manual but will check when i return home. The oven is a Diplomat Select 610 and has an old style clock with hands rather than a digital timer. It does have two buttons/dials but not sure what they do as have never actually used them whilst cooking. Does...

HELP!!! Oven broke after flicking MCB switch to OFF

I have plugged the kettle in which also operates on a 13a plug and it works fine. I guess the plug socket is fine and the problem must be an electrical fault with the oven. any more suggestions?
