    cash gift from relative

He definitely intended it to be a gift he made that clear. I don't have access to his cheque stubs and after 5 years I'm not sure they will still be around even doubt he filled them in. The cash has been sat in my account I told him if he needed it it was there. But now he is gone it...

    cash gift from relative

TonyW2 You are right. This money was paid to him and not intended for my use and I think that now he is deceased and will not be recalling it it should be returned to his estate.

    cash gift from relative

Thanks everybody, I will try the CAB, because although he he was adamant it was a gift I sort of always thought of it as his and I told him if he ever hit hard times he could take it back but he never did want it. Just want to do the right thing.

    cash gift from relative

Thankyou. Yes it was an outright gift and my siblings would not dispute that. He was on benefits for many years with health problems and very reclusive didn't want to spend on himself didn't go out, his computer was his link to the outside world, always lived alone no wife or children so...

    Flat roofquote

Ok, Xenon thanks. My very, very approximate estimate could, with pvc fascia, gutter, lead flashing and extra labour come in at approx. £500 more than the elastomeric felt, which if thats about right is not too bad for a superior finish, would love to go for it. But......... If it was a...

    Flat roofquote

Thanks for your reply, The actual area is 15m2 I wasn't allowing for the overlaps and upstand. Had a company couple of years ago who kept cold calling me about my roof, suspect they had been on google earth but they deny'd it. Anyway I said ok eventually and a huge guy with no teeth...

    Flat roofquote

Ok thanks, Roofer just left apparently he does do elastromeric as well and that is what he is recommending for my roof, with either solar paint, mineral, or chipping finish. Says the mastic asphalt will be expensive and will not necessarily last any longer than the 3 layer felt! He only uses...

    Flat roofquote

Thanks Xenon I have found someone who insists on lead flashing he won't do a flat roof without it, and yes it is secure round here. He is very busy though, been a roofer all his working life and he has had his own roofing supply company for 30 years does a lot of listed buildings etc...

    Flat roofquote

Just found this site http://www.the-flat-roof.co.uk/Sect3_5.pdf Suggests a triangular fillet fitted where insulation board meets wall to avoid cracking and small gap caused by sharp 90o angle and lead flashing inserted above felt upstand and folded over. Also says if lead flashing is...

    Flat roofquote

Had another quote today for £1380 inc Vat with 100ml insulation and it is 15m2 not 12 so I suppose that would be about right then. This guy doesn't do lead flashing either says it only gets nicked! but every house on this street has had lead over the bay for 53 years and nobody has nicked any...

    Flat roofquote

Thanks The roof boards he said are sound are the ply boards attached to the roof joists the existing felt is attached to. He didn't specify which warm roof he was using but he quoted £460 + Vat for that The new fascia and guttering I asked for is PVC. The warm roof is bumping up the...

    Extension not signed off

Thankyou for getting back. From the research I have done so far it seems that building control could only right it off for todays building regs not 1982. I know there is insurance I could take out which I think would allow the sale to go through but that only covers the buyer for any...

    Extension not signed off

We had a flat roofed extension built in 1982, my late husband dealt with all the technical stuff! After his death I can find no paper work or sign off cert for the extension. I do know that plans were submitted and I was around when the building inspector came to inspect, I worked full...
