    System with twin entry valves.

Well, this might sound stupid, and I cant see why not, but here goes. I want to remove a twin entry valve from a radiator, and I will be replacing with the trv on one end, and a lockshield the other. Is there any reason why i cant just bung this setup, get my drain kit and drain the...

BG slapped notice on boiler in 1980s flat.

Thats a different arguement altogether. You can only class an appliance when you are working on it. As above, where does it stop, every 1980's flat with x boiler be told to turn off their boiler??? The only time a boiler would be recalled would be if there was a serious manufacturing default...

BG slapped notice on boiler in 1980s flat.

How would the engineer even know the other flats had the same boiler? How would he get access, he has no rights to? assuming people were home. This arguement is moot. He has deemed it unsafe as per his guidelines, primarly P4 (unsafe situations) - derived from the GSIUR! If he thinks he...

    Leaking Pressurised Central Heating System

OK, lets assume you collect no water from the PRV ( i bet you do, considering the pressure is rising to 3bar then dropping). The only other option is a leak somewhere. If you did have a leak, first would be to find it by all means first. Check with your hands are all joints possible, and...

BG slapped notice on boiler in 1980s flat.

WHy?????? All the others might have had vents put in, therefore they are not 'AR'!! Have you visually inpsected every one? Do you know the vent/air requirements?

    Baxi Solo 50RS - reposition thermocouple/pilot injector?

I would argue that the t/c is postioned fine, as it has worked in the past. Therefore something has probally happened to the pilot, ie chocked injector, gas valve etc etc. As I said, this is RGI stuff. Do not attempt yourself. I was amazed how little adjusting of a pilot can cause the co...

    Leaking Pressurised Central Heating System

It will only pass when the heating is on!!!! and when it does it will be a trickle. The jar is a good idea. Most RGis dont check the expansion vessel when servicing, just the pressure on the gauge and watch how it behaves!!!

    Baxi Solo 50RS - reposition thermocouple/pilot injector?

there are ways to increase/decrease the pilot, but thats RGI stuff ie Gas Safe Engineer. Even adjusting the pilot can cause high co levels if done wrong!!!

    Leaking Pressurised Central Heating System

As above, most likly the expansion vessel needs recharged/replaced. Im pretty sure there is a sticky somewhere about it. To check quickly, go outside and see if there is water coming out of the prv, stick your pinky up inside it to see if its wet. Also, if you know how to, if you let some...

    combi size?

As above, when it comes to combis, flow rate is king. I would say from personal experience anythng less that 14l per minute is just enough for a decent shower when no other drawoffs are used!!!!

    2 radiators not working

Most likely not! To do a proper powerflush (with machine, chemicals etc etc) would take me approx a day, give or take depending on the size of house/number of rads. As above, if you get one done, thats the time to fit a filter at the same time (spirovent, magnaclean etc etc).

    RE- frost stat requirements

It would be wired in after the frost stat i believe on this., Therefore, if the frost stat wasnt satisfied, but the pipe stat was, then nothing would happen and vice versa. But, if the frost stat made, and also the pipe stat made becuase it was too cold, then it would fire up. Perm live -...

    2 radiators not working

As above, or, if the pins are ok, its probally sludge. If its 8mm microbore pipe, very likely, or it might be blocked at the inlet. Removal of both valvle will confrm if there is a blockage going to or from the rad. if it its sludge, you can go down the cheap route, flush it out a couple of...

Most likely the dhw diaphram. Easy enough to replace if you know how. To confirm, you should be able to see the rod be pushed out when a demand is made for hot water, which in turns makes a switch. When these get worn/torn, the pressure diferrential is lower acting on the diaphram, therefore...
