Problem with Wiring / Hysteresis after replacing Tank Stat

If you want HOT water then turn the stat up to 60. The new PTT2 looks to be the electronic version so may require a neutral for the power requirements (?) hence the 5 wire. So... turn up the heat! It must be that when you refit the plastic piece you're actually allowing the sensor to sense...

Pictures from the site I was working at this week

The clocks on the panel fronts are probably defrost clocks. Any Star-Delta starters? Regards UF What are the two 'live after isolated' fcus for? Lighting? Heated door seals? Drain line heater tapes? Evap drain pan condensate pumps?

From experience I'd say coldstores or chillstores. The 2nd picture shows refrigerant lines below the panels. Regards UF

    Pipe casings

Hi Looking to box-in some pipes (15mm) in a kitchen. Ply looks sh1te. Please could someone guide me to an on-line stockist or recommend something aesthetically pleasing? Not the tacky plastic that the local council use. Googled: pipe casements pipe casing box-in...

Central heating doesn't work but hot water is ok

Quite likely your cold water storage cistern float valve passing... water used in the day keeps the level at or around desired level, yet when not in use the valve passes enough water to creep the level to the overflow point. Depending on type of valve; replace seal. :?: Regards UF

    gravity hot water

Cylinder stat is shown below room stat which puts a live to the valve motor. When off the motor closes thus opening the valve microswitch and removing switched live to the boiler for heat demand. Or have I missed something? UF

    gravity hot water

tap stat? :? If I'm correct in thinking you'd like to regulate the cylinder temp, so in winter when you have the CH on the water in the system can be hotter ie the stat up on the BBU. If so... you should fit a cyl stat to energise a zone valve, fitted into the 28mm return from the...

    Boiler Programmer Installation

Can you run your central heating CH separate from your domestic hot water DHW? This Danfoss FP715 is what I've just got to replace an ACL SM400 on a Gravity DHW Pumped CH. Until I fit and wire-in a valve and stat at the cylinder, the CH has to be programmed to operate (when required) during...

    heating problem!

Hey up I can't spend your money... but if it was my own I'd replace the valve complete! You'd be looking at a drain down and electrical isolation, and at least £45 (or possibly less on ebay) just for the complete part, then there's the option of a pro fitting it! Please don't accept my...

    heating problem!

Try this: - drag the lever on the valve over to manual and switch on CH only. See if the boiler fires up straight away. Regards UF

    heating problem!

    - Have you checked what your room stat is set to? Maybe too close between actual temp and desired temp.! Turn it up til it clicks then monitor how long to fire up the boiler. - Have you investigated whether this occurs during normal heating period? It could be the mid-pos valve sticking...

    Potterton Housewarmer 45 NG

Hi Recently moved into a 1968 Dormer in N.Wales Vented tank system, gravity DHW pumped CH, no valves, no cyl stat, ACL SM400 prog. The system runs off a Potterton BBU, gas. Obviously it's a dated unit. Can anyone share experience on this BBU? Is it pretty reliable, assuming...

Any bizarre CH layouts / controls?

As a spark with diy plumbing experience I find myself penning differing layouts and control of wet central heating systems... just out of boredom and as I've been doing a little DIY in my previous home and now in this new one. We currently have a gravity DHW pumped CH vented system off a BBU...

Pump runs OK on the bench, so what's the problem?

Stu Assuming this is a conventional system with F&E tank and DHW cylinder... I'd suspect motorised valve or circulation problem such as closed rad valves and no form of bypass. So... is it this type of system or combi? Any work been done recently? Regards UF

    2 WAY LIGHTING

Hi guys A little help required before I delve into this. We've just moved into this dormer. The electrics are something from Wyatt Earps era... spurs, spitoons and lassoos(?), etc... Right. The hall has a single rose and two light switches, one either end. When switch one is put on...

    Stop/Reset switch for pump question........

As long as it's in series with the coil and no parallel branch around it then it'll serve it's purpose. The yanks tend to have the overload contact between the coil and 'neutral'. I'd say this unit was/is meant to have a remote start/stop using the local stop/reset as the overload reset. I...

    Are these any good ??

My missus's cousin swears by 'em... he had one for back-up once in a Post Office hold-up. Fitted up his sleeve 'just nice' he said. Only joking! He only needed his sawn-off.
