Joists for Storage in Existing Garage

Cheers chaps. I'll buy some treated C16 or CLS timber. I assume if I can only overhang the wall plates 2" each side that will suffice as that may be the case in order to wriggle the joists into position. Also wondering whether treated 89mmx38mm CLS would do the trick? It's a lot cheaper Thanks

Joists for Storage in Existing Garage

Cheers for the advice :-) Yes, I am worried about this. I was thinking I could get one end in over the 3" wall plate first then manouvre the other end in place, but it will be tight. The bricks are 4" wide so effectively have a spare inch each side beyond the wall plate. Thanks for your...

Joists for Storage in Existing Garage

Hi, thanks for the advice, so do you mean essentially fit 2 noggins over the span, approx 3' feet across from each wall plate? Would you advise nails or screws to attach to rafters. I heard that nails are often preferred as they can cope with slight movement without snapping? Finally, would...

Drainage Holes in UPVC Window not Draining

Hi @ronniecabers, Thanks for the reply. The top and bottom holes are unblocked. I managed to do this with some wire. It seems as if there might be an outer top and bottom cell, as when I push some wire through the top drainage holes, the length of wire I can push in only seems to go about...

Drainage Holes in UPVC Window not Draining

Hi, I have a UPVC Window where the water pools in the window frame channel (as per the below photo). As the height of the "side wall" of the channel is lower on the inside, the water comes into the house. As you can see there are three drainage holes (and another three on the other side)...

Hi, Vokera Compaxt 24. Engineer changed Heat Exchanger today as old one had crack causing pressure in CH system to rise. However, the Thermostat in the Hallway is constantly calling for heat as I set the target temp to 23 degrees, and it's not getting over 19.5 degrees. Plus there is a...

Friedland Warbler Mk2 Door Chime Wiring

I will wire it up tmw. Thanks for all the advice. I understand all the wires, just stuck at understanding whether or not to make wiring changes to the Transformer to bring it down to 8 volts. I am struggling why the instructions state 8v, yet the unit states 8/12v on sticker. Just...

Friedland Warbler Mk2 Door Chime Wiring

OK, thanks Still confused about old Transformer. I emailed Friedland technical dept who confirmed 12v would be fine. Sticker on back of chime states 8v/12v. But is this AC or DC? Should I just buy a more modern transformer?

Friedland Warbler Mk2 Door Chime Wiring

thanks Taylortwocities. I already have two door pushes. I'm not sure what of the three wires connected to the old doorbell is which. I think '0' was common earth. 'R' and '1' were the door pushes. But I'm not sure.
