    moving cold water storage

A warning pipe will discharge water to forewarn of an impending overflow and cannot discharge water at the same rate as the inlet. An overflow can discharge water at a rate equivalent to or greater than the inlet rate.

    This is odd

My Nokia charger emits a high pitched whine/whistle when there is no currrent through it (phone full or not plugged into phone). My parents old Trinitron Sony TV used to make the same noise as does my DVD player when you switch it off. Mst just be in the frequency that your dog can hear.

Thanks for that. Actually managed to talk the boss round to ordering a replacement once I explained they've got me home (and clocked off) when on call much quicker than normal on a few occasions. Just told him I'd buy myself a set with the extra hours I'd chalk up waiting for a gang to check...

    Stop Cock or Ball Valve

I didn't say the guidance was law :? I will rephrase it. The guidance is an explanation of the Regulations both as a legal aspect (Guidance) and practical aspect (Recommendations). If something is installed as per the "guidance" then it is deemed to be compliant with Regs... (unless...

Just to make you feel good, I had a push-fit connection blow out and flood my kitchen yesterday. One of the only bits of plastic I haven't replaced in my new house so far due to its position behind kitchen units. Needless to say I'll be replacing it in copper when I repalce the (now ruined)...

    Stop Cock or Ball Valve

Reg 2 is actually more to do with the materials used in contact with potable water. The BS numbers relate to the resistance to corrosion and de-zincification. Reg 10 states the need for a stopvalve - within the industry "stopvalve" is taken to mean a screwdown tap as opposed to "isolating...

    Stop Cock or Ball Valve

Ahem... Whilst G2.8 does say that spherical valves may be used above or below ground, it does not specify that that they may be used as stopvalves. It quite clearly states that "STOPVALVES" should be screwdown valves complying with at least BS1010 for above ground and BS5433 for below...

How not to drive a police vehicle through floods

Foolish driver. Should have maintained a steady speed to create a "bow wave" Shouoldn't be driving through flood water anyway - manhole covers have a tendency to get lifted up with flood surge...

    Footprints

Ok guys. Anyone going to come up trumps with a place that does footprint wrneches at a silly low price? Lost mine on a site today (when I say lost I mean mine got pinched!) On the bright side I gained a 3/4" standpipe (lost the footies whilst confiscating the s/p) so I'm actually quids in...

    What's the best biscuit?

You can't go wrong with a good old Malted Milk or Shortcake style biscuit. On a personal note I believe the HobNob to be the king of biscuits (although HobNob creams come a close second) Of course theres the stock standard Custard Cream or Bourbon to consider too... Best to get a...

Washing Machine Tap with a Check Valve ?

The check valve can also prevent problems with taste&odour in your drinking water as the flexible hoses are now of a lower quality than they used to be. For future simplicity I'd fit one anyway...
