I have accidentally caught a .5" copper radiator pipe with a saw. There is a little saw mark on the pipe but no leak.

Would a mix of the 2-part Araldite prevent it from getting worse?

Thank you.

It is so shallow I couldn't measure it, i.e. between .25 and .5 mm.

When you run your finger over it you can feel it and it can be seen.

Can I just put a 'dollop' of Araldite on it to strengthen it, or am I worrying unnecessarily?

There is no 'cheap' way I can replace the pipe as it's alongside a joist and goes from one bedroom to another. Also, the end I can see has a soldered joint, so presumably, does the other end in the other bedroom.

Thank you.

Copper pipe is only about 1 mm thick so its up to you if you repair or not.

I would solder a slip coupling over it if the damage is less than 20 mm.

Have to drain down though :(

Thank you for replying.

What I'm trying to find out from a qualified plumber is over a period of time, will the pipe weaken and leak.

It's in an awkward position and cannot be monitored once I put the furniture back in the room.

No one knows the answer to your question!

The best advice that you have already had, is fix it with a slip coupling.

Thank you to the people who replied.

I've carried out a close examination of the saw mark and decided that it's irrelevant, probably less than a quarter mm deep.

The slight groove in the pipe has excited my usual paranoia concerning anything to do with water.

I think the 15 mm tube is 0.7 mm thick.

That will probably not cause any problem if its not leaking now.

To repair simply I would drain and run a little lead solder into the groove.

...in the groove!
