    Hi coljack it would be easier to measure the Ze, then the R1+R2 of the sub main and use this Zs as a Zdb for the top board, so you sort of move the Ze along :D whatever you do switch off and prove off,,,otherwise it will be an instant fail.....most examiners will help you along if you are...

    hi yep got the bottom panel off.... it has a separate evaporator in the fridge with a panel over it .. the panel has the circ fan in it with a duct scolloped out of it leading to evaporator-duct blocked with ice, therefore no air circ... just defrosting it with a hair dryer now...

    cheers for that. there is a panel in the middle of the fridge,full of grills, got that off... the business end is in the bottom, it is frozen fast at the bottom so it must be the fan, just waiting for the thing to thaw!

    RCD Tripping

    hi a previous poster could be correct with respect to rodent damage. if i had to guess i would say perhaps a jb lying in a puddle under the floor :shock: eventually i think it will start tripping the rcd irrespective of the mcb been on or not.... hope this helps

    hi secure, dont know how old you are but.... the 5 sec disc is from the 14th edition and earlier.. it was based on "fusing factor" this was 3 for a rewireable fuse 2.4 for a hrc fuse and 1.5 for an oldie mcb also note the draft has scrapped table 41C (alternative method) utilizing cpc...

    hi all bearing in mind that with mcbs there is no 0.4 and 5s disconnection times- it will happen instantly with the correct amount of current.. i also note that the 17th edition is removing 5 sec disc all together, apart from "distribution circuits" best wishes alan

    hi the tranny will probably be ok.... test l-e and n-e as normal when doing the l-n test open the local switch... the mcb tripping is the inrush on start up (until the magnetism builds up to oppose the current , the supply "sees" the tranny as a "short") you need to fit a c type mcb...

    hi all right, i get the cant wait bit! :oops: on IEE i am AKA "electricman" now... an argos fitting as you descibe should really go on a box, now wether it does or does not really matter but the fitting and /or lack of box should be recorded as a "departure" as it is a not BSwhatever...
