    Adding another socket

I think all the other sockets (those four 32A mcbs) in the house are on 2.5mm², perhaps swapping all the 32As for 20As?

    Adding another socket

ere's a spare 32A MCB next to the 40A, would that be better than the 16? Is a 2.5 cable okay for a 32A mcb? I need a sparky in to fit a 10mm cable for a shower, so while he's there I'll get him to swap the cable over from the 40 to either 16 or 32. I'll do sockets and lights, but I'm not arsing...

    Adding another socket

I would hazard a guess that it's 4mm from unit to first junction, then 2.5 all the way from there. There are 3 spare 16a mcbs in the unit, would switching the cable over to one of those be safest option?

    Adding another socket

I missed a junction box. So it runs from 40a mcb in consumer unit, to a junction box, then on a smaller cable to another junction box, then two cables to two sockets (presumably it had other stuff connected, hence two junction boxes??).

    Adding another socket

Thanks, will take some photos now. Where does the danger lie in having a small cable connected to a 40a MCB? If the sockets are overloaded? I'm thinking short term safety measures until it's rectified. Currently there's a 120w TV and a 2kw fan heater in one socket and an alarm clock & two 40w...

    Adding another socket

Sorry, just checked, the sockets are on a 40amp in the consumer unit. Sockets 1 and 2 definitely aren't connected to each other or anything else, they are as per diagram, I have traced all cabling. They both have a cable each running to a junction box, then one cable from junction to consumer...

    Adding another socket

Hi I want to add a third double socket to the front bedroom. I watched this short informative video on radial circuits by John Ward, but want to check a few things first... 1 Is the setup I have a radial circuit (pretty sure it is)? 2 If I want to add a third socket coming off from socket 1...

    Getting toilet closer to wall

Thanks, will see if I can find a button to replace it with. Might look at the soil connections too then, if I can get it closer then great.

    Getting toilet closer to wall

The flex pipe is in pretty tight, I tried pulling out both the soil pipe end and toilet end and it's not budging either way, I could get it out if I really forced it though m, but I think it's safe. The previous owner had used a soil bend and 90° connector and it leaked, so was already put off...

    Getting toilet closer to wall

Thanks agIna, managed to get 3cm off with a junior hacksaw, was as far as I could get in. Now 7cm from wall, that'll do, I'll run a timber shelf along that back bit. Next question... does this look like a standard flush valve? Button is broke, so want to replace it with this...

    Getting toilet closer to wall

Didn't think of that, thanks. Measuring it I think I can safely take off 5cm, that should make enough difference What's best, it's a little awkward... hacksaw?

    Getting toilet closer to wall

Hi Any tips on how I can get this toilet closer to the wall (without getting a back to wall pan)? It currently sits 10cm from wall. I'm using a flexible soil pipe butvthst won't let me push it back further as the connection starts to misalign on the pan. Thanks

Can I use this 40mm pipe with solvent fittings?

Ok thanks. I'll give it a go and see how it is.

Can I use this 40mm pipe with solvent fittings?

Thanks for the replies. I'll try and find out what type of pipe that is. If that outlet pipe is not solvent friendly and I can't get a decent deal with a compression fitting, whats my best option? Liberal use of ptfe tape and plumbers mate?

Can I use this 40mm pipe with solvent fittings?

Ok thanks. So, I need specific Floplast weld pipe? I can use the 40mm weld pipe with compression fittings tgiuft, i.e .bath trap etc? Will all be same brand (Floplast). Failing that, any suggestions about using compression fittings on this outlet and achieving a tight seal?

Can I use this 40mm pipe with solvent fittings?

Hi This 40mm Floplast pipe is for compression fittings, but am I able to use it with solvent fittings too? https://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-push-fit-waste-pipe-white-40mm-x-3m-10-pack/18962 I was using compression fittings, but where the pipe fits to the outlet through the wall it's very...

    Flexible toilet pan connectors

Hi Are the flexible pan connectors ok to use with soil pipes that are set in the floor in older properties where two 90° bends are required? Thanks.
