Would this be an odd set up?

I think its Flameport who can take the credit for that. :)

I'll grab some 1.5mm for it, thanks.

Would this be an odd set up?

Hi, just resurrecting this thread as I forgot to ask, the cable from the flex outlet to the socket, will 1mm twin & earth be ok for that? Its a 300w towel radiator, wired into flex outlet, need a suitable cable from flex to socket which is approx 6m away.

    Fermacell, is it breathable?

Hi, Looking at Fermacell for use in an old building. I read on one site that it was breathable, so compatible with older buildings, however this is the only place that I've read it, nowhere else mentions that it is breathable?

Can anyone tell me what the dust bag is for?

Bag was virtually empty. :) House is a building site anyway, there's much worse than that here, plus wife is 280 miles away.

Internal wall insulation - worth it?

I'm usually a bit suspicious about things like this, wasn't sure if anyone knew anything about it though.

Internal wall insulation - worth it?

Back to internal wall insulation and installing... You're supposed to extend the insulation part way into internal walls where those internal walls meet an external wall, to prevent cold bridges. However, would using something like this... Thermal paint, (assuming it works) negate the need to do...

    Condensation?

Previously there was, it wasn't capped or anything, but that's been done too.

    Condensation?

It's probably just where the solid walls are so thick, they are a good 12-18 inches. On the right in the internal picture there's a fireplace with a flue leading up in the opposite direction. I think this may well be the case. As the pointing has only just been done I've orovapro been a bit...

    Condensation?

Why the separate wet patch further up the wall though, surely water coming in from the ground wouldn't end up this far up, with a dry patch in between?

    Condensation?

I don't think there is one? Is always drained onto the surface and into a road drain a few yards down.

    Condensation?

This is the outside of the wall. The gate is no longer there and it's all been repointed. Downpipe/guttering didn't leak there. As far as I'm aware there's no pipe in that wall. The damp only comes up when we have rain. If there's no rain for a week it starts to dry out.

    Condensation?

Yes, owner. Guttering etc all recently been replaced. Will do some more photos in the morning. This is a radiator nearby, pipes for it come from other side of the room. Will check floor. Other side of wall is nothing really, public footpath and gravel footpath on property, both with ground...

    Condensation?

Yes concrete. The pointing on those outside walls was bad, have been redone & finished in last couple of days. However today's rain has made that section damp again (it's had that damp patch for a long time while knackered pointing was in place).

    Condensation?

Please see pic below. Large old house that hasn't been heated or lived in for a long time. Inside humidity around 80%. Ground level outside is a bit higher than floor level which may explain some of the lower damp.

Internal wall insulation - worth it?

House is currently unheated (knackered boiler, on the list to be replaced later). Have fitted bathroom extractors, will fit a humidistat fan in kitchen when I get to that.

Internal wall insulation - worth it?

I priced it up, metal studs are cheaper and far easier than timber studs. Currently the interior of the house is at 80% humidity, N Wales is quite a humid environment I believe. I'll be fitting a Drimaster to reduce humidity & help control condensation soon. But I read about interstitial...

Internal wall insulation - worth it?

Do i mean aa breathable membrane then or something? Basically something that'll allow water vapour to pass through, but not damp? Like roofing membrane? Going for the batts anyway. Metal stud set 25mm from wall, 80mm batts inbetween, Fermacell over the top. All in around £4200 for the whole...

Can anyone tell me what the dust bag is for?

Ok thanks. I don't need to slagging Ryobi off then. They make pretty good tools on the whole (for the diyer).
