Internal wall insulation - worth it?

I thought regular plasterboard wasn't breathable? Just been reading about Fermacell plasterboard though. Going to price up metal stud wall, with Steico batts in-between studs (will fill stud cavities with it too), boarded over with Fernacell. When you used the Steico Flex batts, did you fit...

Internal wall insulation - worth it?

How would you insulate this wall? Cost is a big factor, as well as the amount of work/time available to do the work.

Internal wall insulation - worth it?

My main concern is it's an older house, I'm worried about the breathability issue so wanted to avoid something like kingspan and regular plasterboard finishes. Space is a bit of an issue, so didn't want to go for as much as 100mm. With the wood fibre batts does the wall need to be completely...

Internal wall insulation - worth it?

Thanks for input. After reading above article think I'm going to go with a breathable insulation option. Looking at Steico Therm wood fibre boards (60mm or 80mm), fixed directly to walls (after removing old lime plaster) with these insulation anchors, then plastered with Solo One Coat Lime...

Internal wall insulation - worth it?

Yes, walls are mostly lime plastered, but with modern paint.

Internal wall insulation - worth it?

Hi I own a fairly old house, built around 1900. Solid stone (slate) walls, approx 12"-18" thick. I want to improve the EPC of the property and was advised internal wall insulation should help keep it warmer, reduce bills & improve EPC. Currently have 300mm in loft. How effective would this be...

Would this be an odd set up?

Thanks, I'll pick up a flex outlet. It'll be approx 900mm from the edge of the shower bath, so outside of zone 2?

Would this be an odd set up?

Hi I want to get a new electric towel heater for the bathroom. Found a decent one, 300w, good reviews etc. I want it plugged in on a timer, like a Hive smart plug. Obviously can't go around putting plug sockets in bathrooms, so my suggestion was to have the radiator run into a fused switched...

    Roof membrane use

Ok thanks. My only concern that it may conceal any future defects in the roofing felt.

    Roof membrane use

Right, don't laugh.. I'm up in the loft tidying & increasing insulation. The loft floor is boarded out for storage (strengthened joists) & lights have been fitted. I read somewhere that someone stapled roofing membrane to the underside of their rafters for the purpose of adding a cheap & easy...

    Is this ok?

    Is this ok?

I checked the consumer unit, you are correct, it's labelled as "en suite shower".

    Is this ok?

Radial circuit, that's it. Ok, I'll leave it as it is. Yes, the cable has 7 stranded wires in live & neutral and a single in earth. Also, it has "4mm" stamped on the outer sheath, which I guess is a bit of a giveaway Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

    Is this ok?

"something" is the other type of socket set up, I know that ring main is the most common, but there's another type but I can't remember what its called. It's the only socket on the circuit, yes, won't be adding others either. I won't be covering with insulation, all the cables will run in top...

    Is this ok?

Just laying some insulation in my loft. There's a double plug socket up here, I had a look and it's connected directly to the consumer unit to a 32a rcd via a 4mm cable (might be a 2.5mm cable). Shouldn't it be in a ring main or something? Not connected directly to the unit?

Why was my answer using weighing method deleted? It answers the question by giving the % of material remaining. MOD: A thousand apologies, it was a bit of finger trouble, there was nothing wrong with your post. Again sincerest apologies.

    Maths puzzle four

Edit: I've calculated from one flat surface to another, OP specified from one vertices to an opposite vertices, in which case OP can feck off. I make it.... 10x10x10 = 1000cm³ Drilled out: Area = π r² = 3.142 x (0.5 x 0.5) = 0.7855 Amount drilled out = 0.7855 X 10 = 7.855cm³ Left with 1000...
