Seems a strange request from a qualified gasman mate, are you not working at the moment? The best way to learn how to faultfind is clearly by doing a course. You can only get basics there though.
By far you will improve your competence level by actually going out and doing it for real; make...
Fan running and a clicking noise is good...either there is an intermittent blockage in the temporary pilot section (nightmare) or more likely the gas valve isn't opening consistently. could be a number of reasons. This will need investigation with a meter for resistances.
You are quite right namsag, whilst there is a very slight deline allowed to prevent water ingress the deliberate downward installation just ain't allowed...some clarity here please
Think your figures are the wrong way round mate; quite a high %age will fix it. You'll find that the same where ever you go, having done non BG training and BG too, I know full well who are trained better
have burner pressures checked, press button 3 x times for test mode (I think!!). Anyway ensure you have correct high and low pressures. Beyond that we can consider other factors, like does the flame modulate down if the tap flow is reduced?
Right Daisypop, the problem is more than likely in the expansion vessl. It has a membrane, half fills with water from the system the other half should be full of air to absorb expansion in the CH system as it gets hot. if you undo the schrader valve cap on the vessel (like a bicycle valve) and...
Not worked on one of these so checked my computer... the boiler doesn't seem to have an expansion vessel so ain't pressurised...have I got the right boiler? That being the case you obviously have the system pressurised anyway. You need to go to the pressure vessel, hold open the PRV and attach a...
Sounds like you've covered most things. I'd check the burner pressure AND the gas rate just to negate the Gas train. Is the flame pic ok? with most cases I find spiders webs in the air intake part of the flue cause this a lot, cover off and vacuum. Also found that whee the fan enters the flue it...
Put a post at the end...All Pros as you put it...will do the basics, if you don't, Mr. guesserman, then it is you who is not professional....if you need advice mate please ask
M8 I must attend 8 different boilers a day, it's absolutely not uncommon. Always do the basics first, if you don't know what it is, you can say what it isn't. Every breakdown engineer must do the basics first, this is just one of them
Sorry mate my concentration deserted me around paragraph 36...If i understand u correctly, the boiler fires but not on full rate? If so the RGI must check inlet pressure then the B.P., if they are dramatically low you may have sulphidation - clear it . was there movement from the diverter in or...
I think you MAY have two probs. One: the pilot injector is blocked. Two: there's a blockage OR the pump is screwed up causing overheating. You have a gravity system, it's possible the non return valve is on the return pipe...anyway either way it could be this that is blocked and causing overheating
The hooting noise u hear from this boiler (if that is the noise ur getting) will be the condensate trap. The sump has to be cleared of clinker debris - always there. The drainage hole has to be clear; and the condensate trap has to be cleaned out. I just change the trap completely and it's...
I would ensure the max and min burner pressures are correect before deciding that you need a new heat exchanger. So many things it could be really. If you are not Gas safe I'm sure your engineer will be able to check.
