    Are fire bricks necessary?

Hi guys. Not been on here for ages and have a question from my daughter. Old coal fire has been removed and opened up to the 'builders opening'. She is fitting a 5Kw multifuel fire (done by a HETAS qualified fitter) To line the builders opening up to steel register plate height does she have...

    How to identify patio flags

Hi. I have just repointed my patio and now want to seal it with a 2 pack resin but as there are different types depending on the flags how can I identify if I have sandstone or concrete etc. Thanks.

MOT failure due to brake lines

Unbelievable that those pipes as shown in your pictures would fail an MOT. In my opinion ( as a BMW senior technician ant MOT tester with over 40 years experience) your only course of action should be to appeal. This idiot needs sorting out. In any case the Ministry always say that "benefit...

    Insulating conservatory roof.

The air gap was something I was wondering about. Also concerned about the weight of all that timber. Rather than plaster board and skim I was thinking upvc cladding would be lighter once the insulation was secured.

    Insulating conservatory roof.

Hi guys. Has anyone any practical experience of insulating a conservatory roof. Looking more at going diy rather than specialist company but interested in all experiences. It is a conventional Victorian upvc double glazed construction with a polycarbonate roof. Thanks.

    Fitting a corner toilet.

Difficult to explain but; Wall toilet is currently on the waste goes through into roof void above garage and then is boxed in as it comes down internal garage wall (small bedroom above garage but set back from front of garage) Could possibly take waste down garage wall further forward than...

    Fitting a corner toilet.

Will be starting refurbishment of the ensuite sometime soon and to make space for a larger shower unit I am thinking of fitting a corner toilet. Only concern is the waste pipe. On a normal toilet the waste goes straight out the back but with a corner toilet surely it will have to turn sharp...

    Portable gas fire goes out.

Got a portable gas fire (De Longhi SBF) which is used in the conservatory. Has been working ok for 2 years but has now started going out after about 2 hours. It will relight but goes out as soon as the button is released. I have changed the analyser/pilot as below...

    Iphone3

Not my phone so can't say exactly what it does as I am not into this sort of thing. Bought it from a workmate as a present for a friend and she is delighted with it. Phone is sim free / network free and is currently used as payg with Orange so I think that is the main reason for the "jailbreak".

Thanks for the replies. ( well most of them ) :) Friend is now sorting it. Phone has been jailbroken which makes a difference to updating the operating system I believe.

    Connecting hob.

It had to go in the adjacent cupboard. The hob unit is a 3 drawer affair with no space behind so he put it below the drawer in the next unit so it is easily accessible as per the pic.

    Connecting hob.

Sorry for the delay in replying. Sparky has been back and fixed the job properly. I was just trying to save a bit of time and carry on with what I was doing without causing him problems. Thanks for the replies.

    Connecting hob.

This is what I have. ( sockets are not squint, just not screwed down yet) Cable from cooker switch comes out behind 3 drawer hob unit. Do I need to get what ericmark has shown and connect that inside the cupboard to the right?

    Connecting hob.

There is a cooker isolation switch in the wall above the worktop and the cable from this comes out the wall behind the hob unit. The hob (Bosch) has about 1 metre of cable on it with brass crimped ends. (For a 13A plug?) The hob unit has 3 drawers in it so no space to make the connection...
