    MDF bath panel

Hey guys My bath panel is cracked and I want to experiment making a new one from MDF. What waterproofing measures do I need to take? I've got some spray on lacquer, but it's such a palaver to get the spray machine out. Can I thin this lacquer with some spirits and brush it on? Many thanks CF

    Plane door with sander

Hey guys. My Planer has gone kaput :S Will an electric sander work with 120 grit? How long do you think that will take? I want to remove about 8mm in total from top and bottom. Should I invest in course sand paper? I need to get these doors in quick before the kids damage them :S Cheers CF

Using internal door as external yard door

Wow. Do you think 18mm mdf will work if I use the same waterproofing measures?

Using internal door as external yard door

Hi guys The door that separates my back yard and back alley is on its way out. I have a spare internal door (the hollow type). Any chance I can use this instead with the correct waterproofing measures? If yes, what sort of waterproof paint should I use? Thanks in advance CF

Use washing machine without waste trap

Thanks for the reply buddy. Yes, I do understand what you are saying. I'm hoping this will remain a temporary measure. I'll get this for now: https://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-wmf3-straight-nozzle-1/5689p What else do I need to fasten it to the 40mm length of pipe? What sort of clip do I...

Use washing machine without waste trap

Yeah I understand your concern. Im only suggesting this route because there is an air gap where I described in the diagram so I think the waste will happily flow through and I can't see how any obstructions can occur to cause backflow. But I could be wrong :S By connecting the flexible...

Use washing machine without waste trap

Yeah thanks. The loop wasnt included in the diagram for simplification purposes. As per the diagram, Can I get rid of the elbow all together and connect the spigot in the horizontal position, connecting it directly to the horizontal drain pipe?

Use washing machine without waste trap

Actually I just realised that the current black waste pipe is probably polypropylene if it's being used in a push fit system (is this a fair assumption?) and so I'll have to use compression fitting anyway :S

Use washing machine without waste trap

Yep. This is what I want to go for: I want to replace the Push Fit Elbow with a spigot as attached. Can you please advise me what sort of spigot to go for. I'll check out some solvent welding videos and hook it up next weekend. Thanks again CF

Use washing machine without waste trap

Thanks for explaining the polypropylene bit. As discussed above, I don't have space for a standpipe. I want to plumb the washing machine outlet directly into a welded spigot. I would be grateful if somebody could recommend me one like I've posted above. Thanks again

Use washing machine without waste trap

Thanks guys Will this do? : https://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-wmf3-straight-nozzle-1/5689p Do I need anything else with this? Should I solvent weld it or will push fit/compression fitting do? Im mindful this will be under the floor so don't want no comebacks. Ps: the isolation valve is...

Use washing machine without waste trap

Thanks buddy. That makes perfect sense. I'll go out to the shops this week and invest in it all. Great idea. Sounds like an aircraft takeoff when the machine is spinning on the suspended floor. This will also save me needing to notch as well. What are the best materials to put underneath the...

Use washing machine without waste trap

Thanks for the reply buddy. Im really sorry but Im technically challenged and don't quiet understand what you just said :S Any chance of a diagram or explaining it again really slowly? With respect to the risks, I don't mind a bit of draft as we keep the window open 24/7 anyway Smells - the...

Use washing machine without waste trap

Washing machine is in laundry room. There are no nearby traps it can go into. Im thinking if I shove the flexible washing machine pipe deep enough, there won't be any water coming back up. The washer outlet is pressurised. The slope will ensure no water comes back up. Am I wrong here? I...
