Y plan with 6 core and 5 core valves

great stuff. so I don't need a connection from the HW off in the programmer and terminal 3 in the cylinder stat?? Thanks again PS. I still don't understand why he would have installed the larger 28mm valve if its not required?? the pipe work is all 22mm so the valve has got reducers...

Y plan with 6 core and 5 core valves

I realise that a 6 core can be used normally without the white but I find it odd that the plumber has specifically told them its a Y plan. and why not just use a standard valve? the 28mm 6 core is obviously more expensive. and must have a job to do!!!

Y plan with 6 core and 5 core valves

Hi, Ive just been to a job to where the plumber has replaced old corroded unvented cylinder with a new megaflow. Arrive at customers house to be told that the plumber said to tell me its a Y plan! No problem I thought, expecting to see a 3 port and a 2 port for the cylinder. What I found was...

    Programmer suggestions

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a replacement two channel programmer? Its a Y plan system which has just had the old unvented cylinder replaced with a megaflow. Current programmer has sliders for selection and can only have on and off times set for both heating and hot water. The...

    Gypsy Caravan

Thanks Lectrician, A good straight answer from a fellow Devonian! Thanks everyone else as well. It may seem bad to you that I don't know some of this stuff but at least I'm here asking advice rather going for the 'that'll do' approach. Everyday's a school day and all that!

    Gypsy Caravan

Maybe im being a bit slow. I did drink far too much last night! But why does the distance make it totally unacceptable? It is going to be lived in for a while but then it will be more like a summer house. that's the best explanation of it I think. it will also have a deck/balcony built around it.

    Gypsy Caravan

Also re the bonding. the caravan is timber framed but the floorboards are supported by a steel frame which is then connected to the axle's. would it not be good practice to run an earth wire to this and bolt it on? Just so you know where im coming from. I am a qualified spark. I've just...

    Gypsy Caravan

Thanks for your replys, The caravan like you say is more of a museum piece. its not likely to be going anywhere for a long time. there are no lights, in fact you would only know its a caravan if you saw the wheels. I was taking care of double pole isolation via the 25A RCD next to the...

    Gypsy Caravan

Looking for your opinions please. I have a gypsy caravan in a field, currently no electrics installed. I am thinking of running a 6mm armoured from mains supply in barn. 60m cable run. protected with 100mA rcd and 25A MCB to a 32A round pin socket next to caravan location. wiring 3...

Best finish for oak front door?

Looking for some advice please.... Just received my new engineered oak front door and i'm wondering what to protect it with. I would really like to keep it fairly natural looking, not too shiny! we have oak worktops in the kitchen, they are oiled with normal worktop oil. Something similar to...

    Oven & Hob wiring....

Yes but no need for a fuse if you use 4mm² flex. The supplied (smaller) flex may be acceptable but certain conditions must be met which the 'proper' electrician will (should) be able to determine. As I said, I doubt Currys will be willing to do this. Surely removing the fuse...

smeg SE2644TC, no signs of life!

I was called to a rental property to have a look at a hob which wasn't working. the tennant told me the hob wasn't working and when she went to switch it on at the isolator it fell apart in her hands. The isolator was clearly beyond repair so i replaced it thinking that would solve the problem...

    Water heater advice???

Just wondering what peoples opinions are on using an instantanious water heater (redring or similar) to supply a kitchen sink and basin in the bathroom. only really need a sinkfull per day for the dishes so was ruling out heating a cylinder full with an immersion. Is there a better option...

UFH wiring to a combi with built in time controls!

Thanks for the help so far guys. Been thinking about it today and the only way which i can get my head around doing it is with the relay. wiring everything in 240 and having the orange wire from the rad circuit or switch live from the UFH wiring centre switching the relay and completeing the...
