Damsel in distress - Leaking shower - help please

When installing a shower tray it should be siliconed before tiling-then the tiles off the tray should have a 2-3mm gap between tray and tiles to allow for the final silicone to get into to when sealing. As the gap on yours is non existant in places I think the problem will just reoccur :(

Wall tiles, do I work from the window or center line of wall

Start from the center of the window generally, what size will the cuts be in the corners? You can start on the center line using the edge of the tile or the center of the tile, walk the tiles to the edges so you know accurately what the cuts will be.

    Price for a good tiler?

So £1650 for 2 days, seems a lot thats all. I do all domestic work and would never expect to fix more than 15sqm in a 7/8 hour day so this job would have taken me 4/5 days My sqm rate would have been the same as yours including adhesive and grout even then still comes out around £300 a day.I...

    Price for a good tiler?

But the day rate would work out cheaper than the sqm rate Are you sure? Those wall and floor areas come out at a total of 55sqm So for 2 days work you would be charging £1650 on sqm or if you worked for your quoted day rate a total of £300

    What price for tiling

This question has always been asked and the answer is the same, without actually seeing a job quoting acurately is difficult. Taking what you've said into account though I would be looking at £180 if I supplied the grout and adhesive (I have brands that I like and work with) if your suppyling...

    Shower outlet/sprayhead installation

Hi Frank, I think your calcs are slightly out,6mm on adhesive when bedded is coming out a but thick IMO. Even with a 10mm notch when the tile is bedded should be coming out at 3-4mm + tile thicknes.I know its only a few mm but every bit counts

    1" Shower Tray Gap

 I think you should fill the gap with macaroni cheese, not the tinned kind though and then grate extra cheese on the top and brown off with a blow torch to give a water tight finish. Alternatively you could follow the advice already given

    size of tiles

£200 for 4sqm of 4" sq tiles is very good IMO,especially in a kitchen, lots of cuts generally around sockets and switches up under units and as you mentioned window cills. For 4" sq tiles you have to fit 100 tiles to cover a sqm, works out about 25p a tile for fitting/grouting

mosaic adhesive for use on exterior ply outside

This could have made things happen faster, exterior ply has a treated veneer on the outside faces, scoring these could have allowed ingess into the untreated timber beneath the top veneer. Aqua panel would be best as tic says.

    Crumbling Grout

Try a flexible additive in your grout as this tends to give more flexion than actual powdered flexi grout.

Can someone help me with a maths question please

    Shame on you all,doing calcs in old money :!: Convert it to meters. 12ft 6" = 3.81m x 8ft 6" = 2.59m which gives 9.86sqm + 10% is 10.85sqm round up to 11sqm. 9 tiles per sqm ( 13" = 0.33m) so 99 tiles. Now I bet the OP's really confused!

Grout cracking on edge of floor

It does sound likely that it is movement in the wall due to the rest of your floor being sound. Is the conservatory still under warranty?Might be best to contact the company if it is and get it checked out.

Similar sized bathroom wall and floor tiles

Use slightly larger spacers on the floor than the walls,I've had customers ask for the grout lines to match up before.Takes a little more setting out but it's possible with such a small difference 1-2mm. Could use say 4-5mm on the floor and 2mm on the walls. If your tiler's thoughts are...

    floor tiling

No 25mm ply will be solid as a rock, use a powdered flexi adhesive tho.Make sure you seal the undersides and edges of the ply too.
