Am in the process of building a dormer extension and have been looking at the other dormers where I live.The lip of felt at the edge that goes over the gutters shows no signs of fixing,what is normally used to fix the felt at/over the edges?

What boards are you using? I use a 10mm sq notch then once they are all in place I screw down every 200mm. Make sure the adhesive is flexible.

Generally I would fit the upstand first then tile on top.

I have worked on site where there was a guy who specialises in oak.He used danish oil for the staircase he was fitting.

Have a couple of buckets of clean water ready and sponges. If your not sure how long it will take then only mix up a couple of handfuls at a time. Work a small area of about 1/2 a sqm to 1sqm depending on size of the tiles and how fast you work,you should be sponging off when the grout starts...

The framing is 2x4 so what length and type of screws would be best please?
