Bond/Earth Exterior Galvanized Conduit Carrying Cat5 Only?

Guys, lots of questions regarding steel conduit inside the house carrying mains for the likes of showers etc. but do I require bonding (and if so, what sort - direct continuous to MET or cross bond to heating sufficient?) if: conduit is steel and runs on the outside of the building running...

Bonding Gas Meter or Pipe (Again)?!

LoL - that is what I meant - like in ballistics where the rifling of the barrel leaves linear marks on a bullet (too much CSI). I was measuring just the bit of wire open circuit.

Bonding Gas Meter or Pipe (Again)?!

D'oh - regular strap fits - just. Pipe was a bit of a pig to scrub up - it's steel with lots of lovely pits and extrusion striations! Anyway, is this satisfactory? Wiki says resistance should be no more than 0.05ohms but I don't have the right equipment to measure - my POS DMM says 0.5 (even...

Bonding Gas Meter or Pipe (Again)?!

Bonding Gas Meter or Pipe (Again)?!

A much discussed topic but even after a lot of reading I still have a question. It seems quite clear that bonding needs to be within 600mm - but there's conflicting info whether it's 600mm of the pipe entering the building or 600mm of the meter. Pic of both my gas entry point and meter...

    Renewing Garage Supply From House

Good grief - talk about specialized tools! I get severely depressed these days whenever I see or hear the need for special tools - comes after many years of doing various PITA jobs on my own (previous) cars. Usually buy and use once and then give away or flog on the cheap. On the other hand...

    Renewing Garage Supply From House

Thanks for links. Luv this quote: "MI cable is also highly resistant to ionising radiation and so finds applications in instrumentation for nuclear reactors and nuclear physics apparatus.". That'll be handy for the hobby miniature nuclear reactor I'm building in the garage then - will keep...

    Renewing Garage Supply From House

Wow - really?! I wouldn't have thought that anything put there by "Skimpy Wimpey" in the 60s was quality  No, not planning on increasing load in garage at all. It just looks really weedy and a bit sorry so I though that it could do with changing. It doesn't go through any insulation at...

    Renewing Garage Supply From House

Hello All! Been a lurker for a long time with zip all to contribute but finally need some help. I've done a fair amount of reading and searching on here, Google and IEE. I have a detached garage - less than a meter from the house. Although technically detached, it is joined to the house via a...
