Dripping Mira 88 shower and stuck stop valve to water cyl

To resurrect this thread. I removed some of the scale in the CWS and then left it for a week to allow the scale to settle. Then I replaced the seals on the shower. This week the shower started to drip again on connection point with the hose on the underside of the valve Does this mean...

Bosch Heatslave 12/14 oil fired fault

To resurrect this thread, I replaced the valve in February with a Honeey well replacement. Recently the problem seems to be recurring with the replacement valve. I have stripped the old one and cleaned off some black film on the sides of the valve and the valve now moves much more easily...

    Leaking TRV

Make is not known, but it is not Danfoss. Marked on the Thermostat is E.C.A. a brand name I guess? On the pic the water is on the area round the white nylon disc and the brass nut around the pin. http://img230.imageshack.us/i/dscf1112d.jpg/

    Leaking TRV

In my bedroom is the rad. Usually it is off, but for a couple of days now I turned it on for a bit to warm the room up. I removed the top thermostat section and there was a build up of water where the pin sits. I have pushed the pin in and out to see if it is muck, but no change. The TRV is...

Dripping Mira 88 shower and stuck stop valve to water cyl

Thanks for your advice. Had a closer look in the loft. There are two tanks one is the overflow and the larger is the header. The header is lined with scale, should this be cleared out, or will it come back anyway? The valve feeding into the header drips a little, would a strip solve it...

Dripping Mira 88 shower and stuck stop valve to water cyl

The Mira 88 installed some 30 years ago is dripping hot water from the rose. Mira are pretty good with spares So to take it apart I have to shut off the supply. IE the cold inlet (no problem) and the cold supply to the hot water cylinder. The AGA supplies hot water to the cylinder as well...

    final completion

I converted two garages and toolroom into annexe accommodation on my parents small holding about 4 years ago. If I went for final completion with the council I suspect the water rates for the whole property would increase. There is one supply pipe from the road that feeds their house and...

I bought some 300mm wide code 4 yesterday, I used 4' of it. Can someone tell me the best way to store it. I also have some 9" wide code 4 but this has gone grey, I am not sure if it is usable as it is grey instead of shiny.

    Drill driver knackered?

Axminster £70 drill driver a couple of years old. A bit gutless but not too bad. Only used for hobby efforts. Screwiing 3" no 8 screws into tanelised timber and it was struggling. The bit stopped turning and after a bit I smelt burnt oil. Now whenever I screw a screw in it makes a low...

    New taps

For a bathroom basin. Standard taps nothing clever about them. The water pressure is mains fed and quite high, getting towards 3 bar. It is a limestone area so scale is an issue. These are to replace a set of £20 taps that lasted 2-3years. The face has a very deep cut in one place and would...

    Water pressure

Is mains and rather high. 6 months ago I replaced a hose on an old Servis Gem W/M. It is held on with spring clips. It is the cold feed to the powder compartment. This replaced hose has started leaking at the same point, a three way junction. Options I can think of are: 1. Buy a 1/2"...

Bosch Heatslave 12/14 oil fired fault

Thanks again for the time a trouble you have taken to post to help me. When I raised and lowered the valve stem I did so a few times to see if that moved any crud. The valve seems to be operating correctly for the time being,.. A builder advised that the use of the anti scale treatment (if...

Bosch Heatslave 12/14 oil fired fault

Thanks for the advice. I took the actuator off the top of the valve and did lift the valve stem. Turing the hot water only the heating remained cold and the water heated up. So QED. Looking for a replacement seems to be the thing to do, people comment that the spool may break up on removal...

Bosch Heatslave 12/14 oil fired fault

No I have not spoken to him since he serviced it on Jan 5th. I had a closer look on the net. Two threads suggest that the diverter valve gets filled with crud and becomes the problem. I took a closer look at mine, switching it on etc as follows: Honeywell VC4613 actuator on top of the...

Bosch Heatslave 12/14 oil fired fault

When I switch on the hot water only, the boiler takes 30 minutes to heat the water (3/4 of maximum temp) before it turns off, the radiators get hot as well as distinct from warm. It used to take 15 minutes to heat the water and the rads only got warm not hot. I have changed the combi care...

    tap seat recutting

I installed a pair of taps in my parents downstairs basin in the shower room about 3 years ago at a cost of £18, so budget price. The cold is mains fed at fairly high pressure, getting on for 3 bar. It is a high limescale area, with the limestone used to built Portbury- Avonmouth docks. The...
