    Memorial plaque onto concrete

I have a memorial plaque which I want to mount onto a suitably sized piece of concrete, such as a 12" square paving slab. It is to be used near a grave. I bought a 12" square paving slab and set about mounting the plaque, but I split the slab I think because the screws were too big for the...

Which glue for kitchen surface end strips

To glue the end strips onto the ends of kitchen surfaces. Chipboard laminate surface. And what ever the material is for these strips, same as the surface? I have a hot melt glue gun, would that do? Or something else? Araldite or Cascamite?

    stripping Oak kitchen unit doors

The doors have a profile so it may be difficult to remove all the dark stain from them. Not sure of the best way to do this. Nitromoors? Or another solvent?

    soundproofing a stud wall partition????

I used the compacted rockwool stuff. Wickes sell it at 3-4 times the price of Travis Perkins. From Travis it cost £20 for quite a bit. Can't remember. 3" thick, by 60 cm wide by 90 cm long? 6 or 8 sheets? Something like that. Shop around, it is simple stuff.

    kitchen surface end finishing

Thanks. It is a chipboard surface with laminated top. I have got the iron on edging strip so I'm ok there. I thought I might be able to make the cuts with a circular saw, which would be better than a jigsaw. Your comments about masking tape are sensible.

    kitchen surface end finishing

I have a 3m length of surface which will protrude about 8" beyond the end of the unit. I wanted to cut it to a nice shape and to have shelves under it. But, given it is a roll top, what kind of shape is best. There would be problems with a radius and the roll top I think. Or three angled...

    Current ratings for cable sizes

Can someone point me in the right direction for the max current rating for cables. I've done a search with limited success. I am going to install a ceramic hob and built under oven. I think the circuit has 6mm cable but will check. Max draw of hob is 25A. 2x 1.7kW + 2x 1.2 KW=...

    connecting tails

The MEB or Aquilla installed the one shot board with the meters and main fuse box. And are due to put the fuse in in about a weeks time. I installed the CU. The CU is above the One shot board. They are both on studding so there is a gap behind the chipboard I have partly...

    Tiger loop or two pipes?

I am installing a Combi 12/14 and a 1225 liitre oil tank. The outlet for the tank is about a metre below the oil inlet on the boiler and about 1 metre away horizontally. So do I use a tiger loop derarerator or use the two pipe system? The pipes will be above ground. The two loop needs two...

    Fan in the kitchen

Which instructions are these then? In the kitchen I am doing I have a ceiling mounted fan and a simpe one way wall switch to turn it on. You usually only need a three pole switch for the bathroom fan. The sparks saw this when he came on first visit prior to certifying check and said it was ok.

Waste for old double sink wanted

The sink is a double ceramic 20 year old job, probably French. It has two sinks with the two wastes. One of which is breaking up, the thread has gone on it where it connects to the chrome bit on the top, and the rubber O ring which seals on the under side is missing. I have tried to get a...

    Consumer unit wiring layout

I am doing a garage conversion and bought and installed an MK RCD consumer unit, 8 way. Is there best practice for the layout of the different circuit connections on the CU. Going from the left of the CU I connected it as follows: first there is the main swithc then lights circuits (3) and...
