    Wind Tunnel

Hi All, From the attached pictures you will see I have a wind tunnel down the side of my house passing over the decking and then down my drive. Any suggestions as to how I can reduce the problem without blocking off the area as I like the feel of the garden wrapping around the house. Our...

Has anyone any experience using 'Fiddes Protex'? Will it take over BriWax and offer a waterproof protection?

    Alternative to BriWax

Thank you to both of you for your replies. I must apologies, I didn't make myself very clear on my first post. We are having some new units made for our utility which will be untreated. ic1927, would you still go with the wax oil as 'TheDec'? Wax Oil seems to be winning with TheDec...

    Alternative to BriWax

Hi, Our pine kitchen is finished in BriWax. We love the look but washes off. So I am looking for an alternative. We want a semi matt finish. I have seen two products. http://www.wood-finishes-direct.com/products/wood-finishes/wood-oils/hard-wax-oil.htm#0...

    Decking joists - which screws?

I used Wickes own brand timberlock screws and they did the job fine on my decking project. I used them as you intend, fixing the joist to posts and joist to joist. Easy to use, I skew screwed them in.

    Gate ironmongery

Hi All, I have recently erected some swan neck driveway gates. They are 5 foot high rising to 6 foot in the centre. I have drop bolts at the bottom of the gates and a latch 2/3rds of the way up. The latch has now bent in the winds. It hasn't been that windy ( not compared to what we get in...

Hi All, I'm trying to find a product to stain my fence as I don't like the silver grey colour it will go. I don't like the colours by Ronseal or Cuprinol. I like the Burma teak by Sadolin just not the price! So I have been trying to find an alternative. I did come across an Osmo product...

    Fence Stain

Hi All, Oiled my deck on Sunday. Thank you to all the advice I got on that post. It looks great. Does what it says on the tin. It now has the look it had before treatment when wet. I plan to start a new thread when I get chance (decent weather) with pictures. Hopefully more people will post...

    Fence Stain

Does any one know of very light oak treatment? Thought of using tinted decking oil but it's expensive and wont last as long as the stains.

    Fence Stain
