    Loft Bedroom BC Regs Clarification

Hi I'm currently planning a fairly large extension to my 60's built 3 bed bungalow. The new build extension will incorporate an upstairs 'loft style' bedroom, but will not use any of the existing loft space. The staircase will ascend from the existing hall way which runs down the centre of...

    Cut Roof Design

In the process of designing an extension to a sixties bungalow. Existing building is a basic box with gables front and rear and the ridge running down it's length. Extension will be to the rear, continuing the existing roof line rearward by 6.5m, and there will be an extension to the side...

    Cold Water Storage Tank Relocation

Many thanks. Just had a look at my system, and the main feed into the house feeds everything, the only thing the cold water tank supplies is the hot water cylinder.

    Cold Water Storage Tank Relocation

Thanks for advice, sorry to ask another question..... but what is the reason for a 'normal system' to only have the main supplying the kitchen and outside taps, and the other cold taps coming from the cold water tank?

    Cold Water Storage Tank Relocation

Arrrr... got it! :D Many thanks. Any benefit going for a bigger tank than my existing 25 gal one? Also, can't afford to change the boiler for a combi (oil fired anyway) or go to a pressurised hot water tank system.

    Cold Water Storage Tank Relocation

3 bed bungalow built in the early 60's, hot water cylinder in the kitchen airing cupboard, 25 gal cold water tank directly above it in the loft space, sat on the ceiling joists. As I have poor hot water flow, I was planning to mount a new replacement tank (of the same size) as high as possible...

    Building a shed

I also built my own last year, measuring 6.1m long x 3m wide with a pitched trussed roof. Sits on a 'structural' base of 100 x 50 joists and 18mm floor.... OK you could argue it's really a garage.... especially now it has a car stored in it.... Exterior is treated shiplap, roof is...

60's Bungalow Extension - Garage Floor

Thanks for the replies guys, very helpful. Deluks - yes the workshop is currently planned to be on the otherside of a single block wall. I had thought about sound insulation, is this a building regs requirement in this situation? I'm personally not that bothered, as I live on my own...

60's Bungalow Extension - Garage Floor

Currently in the process of designing / drawing plans for an L shaped extension to a Bungalow. Current building is basically a box, new build will be extension rewards and to the side to give me a new large lounge and bigger 'attached' domestic garage/workshop. The new garage floor level will...

Wallstar Oil Fired CH Boiler Problems

Problem now fixed! Just wanted to say thank you for all your advice, it really is appreciated. I did measure the pump pressure of the existing pump, and discovered that although it initially reached around 7 bar (normal), it soon dropped off to around 3 - 4 bar and air was observed in the...

Wallstar Oil Fired CH Boiler Problems

Wallstar (in cavity) oil fired boiler CH system installed about 7 years ago, and has performed without a single problem until recently. I have to hold my hand up and admit that it hasn’t been serviced since 2000 (!). Initial symptoms were that it would not restart after a period of...
