Gas meter always ticking away - is that right?

It's a viessman vitodens 100-w, was installed 8 months ago - from what i can infer from their website - it's got an electric pilot, although not 100% sure as the manuals aren't great. I've turned it's gas supply off direct at the boiler though, so therefore the pilot shouldn't be on right?

Gas meter always ticking away - is that right?

Feel a bit silly, like i should know this but looking at my gas meter the other day i noticed that the last digit on the far right of the reading was ticking around albeit slowly. I thought to myself, well the central heating isn't on (i turned the gas supply off at the boiler), nor are the...

Rusted old backboiler, safe to remove?

Hi, i responded to your query a couple of days ago, not sure if you read it or not? In any case - the lintel was from jewsons, it's concrete 900mm long, steel re-enforced, it cost £8. The acrow/strongboys weren't used in the end, i found that the small throat lintel was quite loose anyway...

    Best was to chase cable?

Lump hammer and chisel, it'll take a wee bit longer but if it's just for the one it'll save you money. Just my two pence.

Rusted old backboiler, safe to remove?

Been a busy weekend, the lintel is in, back boiler removed along with flo and return pipes both upstairs and down. Took the liberty to replace some floorboards along the journey. Thanks everyone for the help.

Rusted old backboiler, safe to remove?

Well after much standing about twiddling my thumbs, pondering on what i should do next, i decided action must be taken - so last night, very slowly and meticulously i knocked away the mortar and bricks to the side of the boiler, in effect opening up the fireplace to expose the piping so i can...

    Taking up floor boards

What gets my goat (happened recently) is when workmen drive the screws into the floorboard with so much power fragmenting/splitting the end of the floorboard....why...just why???? I've spent a good 20 minutes on a single board trying to get screws out that have been driven in so hard.

Rusted old backboiler, safe to remove?

Thanks again for the help - i've removed a lot of the render/plaster off the chimney breast and i'm starting to think there isn't a lintel judging by the pictures below. Theres an obvious rebuilding of the brick work above the neck (in triangular fashion) but whether it lies behind there i...

Rusted old backboiler, safe to remove?

Directly inside and above the boiler is a slab approximately 1 ft across (throat?), just wide enough to cover the gap, i presume this can't be the lintel, i've hacked away a trace 2 ft above and no sign of a lintel yet, how far up would the lintel normally be? Presumably before the chimney...
