    Verification of voltage drop

Reg 612.14 - BS7671:2008 States: Where required to verify compliance with Section 525 the voltage drop may be evaluated by: i) measuring the circuit impedance ii) using calculations using cable length v load current for different cable sizes. Now.. Issue 1 - The regulation does not...

Checking electric supply for 20 amp capability - HOW ?

The circuit isn't protected by a 20 A fuse otherwise, I would assume, the OP would just install what he needs without him being concerned.

Checking electric supply for 20 amp capability - HOW ?

:?: :?: :?: :?: :D :D :D :D Odd. You need to know what size the cable is (printed on cable sheath). You need to know what size circuit protection it already has. (printed on the device or the colour of the dot on the fuse carrier) This is only for starters.

3kW load. What do you regard as the design current?

http://www.vphase.co.uk/ If the voltage was limited would you use 220v (in the case of using a unit in the above link) or would you base it on 230v? In the domestic environment there is likely to be very little difference but on an industrial scale with private supplies this could be quite...

3kW load. What do you regard as the design current?

Well how can a valid assessment of the maximum demand ever be carried out? I sense Armageddon!! Rioting!! HOuse's without power!! The chaos!! :O :O :O

3kW load. What do you regard as the design current?

But that's my point. It is not true. Many design calcs are being done incorrectly. The current is 11.98 amps @230v.

3kW load. What do you regard as the design current?

Well without trying to sound like a numpty.... :D When dividing 3000 by 230v and getting a current of 13.04 amps, I would say that this 0.4 amps has been widely ignored since the "harmonisation" and accepted as the standard means when calculating the design current for 3kW loads, hence, keeping...

3kW load. What do you regard as the design current?

@240v the 3kW load (e.g. immersion heater) calc comes in at 12.5 amps. When calculating with 230v what is the current?

    C & G 2382 (17th edition wiring regs) teach yourself?

In terms of theory the NICEIC produce a work book with pretty pictures. They call it the learning guide. http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Books_Training_Index/Electricians_Guide_Book/index.html The NICEIC, in my opinion, produce well written, easy to understand publications. It's all...

rewiring no regulation compliance cert. needed?

Sheds, Can Welsh not just ask the electrician to complete an Electrical Installation Cert from here http://electrical.theiet.org/wiring-regulations/forms/index.cfm (Top link on right hand side). Then take this to the council and cough up the £300 for the Building Regs completion cert?
