Why issue an Electrical Installation Certificate?

633.2 Answers this for me. If defects are found an EIC can still be issued. The main thing is that it should not be confused with an Initial Verification. Thank you for your thoughts fellas.

What's the worst that can happen? Building Regs

So a mixed opinion so far... are the Building Regulations NOT a statutory document?

Why issue an Electrical Installation Certificate?

Scenario: Regulation 631.1 states that "Upon completion of an new installation or changes to an existing installation, an Electrical Installation Certificate,.... shall be provided" A consumer unit change is a significant change to an installation so would require an Electrical Installation...

What's the worst that can happen? Building Regs

Scenario: A fully competent electrician, 20 years experience, with full C&G apprenticeship, has 2391 and 2382 carries out a board change on a friends property (for free). The friend did not inform the Local Authority of the "notifiable" work. The electrician, in possession of all the necessary...

    Part P Revision Question..

OK, OK, but the word NOT is a big trip up in most candidates that sit the 2382. It's a tricky way to write a question in my opinion.

    Part P Revision Question..

There are three answers that are confirmed by a polarity test. One of the four does NOT.

    Part P Revision Question..

It's the question format.. the way it's written makes it look like there are three possible answers. It's not really a test on knowledge, its a test of reading skills.

    Part P Revision Question..

I nearly got tripped up by the key word being used by City and Guilds at the moment, NOT. Take away the word NOT and re-read the question. This will leave you with ONE answer, the odd one out, and the correct answer. These are the questions formats that I drum into candidates to look out...

Dingbat, Have you seen the SmartScreen paper exercises where you have to choose the coloured dot (signifying the test leads), meter setting, etc? I have adapted it for PowerPoint so in full screen (not in presentation mode) its an interactive drag and drop, theoretically practical exercise :D...

Have you asked your C&G EV directly to be sure? The 2392 unit specifically states you can't train on the assessment board but the 2391 unit doesn't.

Crikey. A lad I recently failed on the first assessment during the practical could not distinguish between a low resistance and a short circuit. HE fell at the first hurdle and we found out his two attempts with us at the 2382 (17th Edition) were actually his 4th and 5th attempts. His results...
