    prep for rendering garden walls

Does this help ? Just realised it won’t, as your question is more membrane related than render application. Link deleted

Hopefully somebody may spot this thread. Nice of you to offer it FOC to the right person

    What are you selling? :-)

Advice on filling hole in tarmac against house wall

Have a google of Cold lay tarmac. Should do the job

    Painting flaking garage door

I would try a hot air gun and a scraper. That should help to remove the paint. Plenty of YouTube videos if you wanted to have a squid before hand. I wouldn’t attempt to seal it, just get it removed and do the job properly :-)

Bent gas pipe with lots of joints

If it was me I would cut it out, protect the pipework and renew. Is there no such thing as pride with peoples work these days?

2005 build - poor wet area tiling quality example

Disappointing isn’t it, you would expect proper tradesmen to be hired to do new builds but sadly this isn’t uncommon. Hopefully you are otherwise happy with the house and area and you can give the house some much needed love and do the job properly. I was talking to a plumber last September who...

    Loft ladder banging the ceiling

Did you fit the “V” shaped retaining bracket? On my new house I had to do away with the bracket due to the insulation layer and nowhere suitable to secure it. This made it noticeably more difficult to put the ladder away as it can move side to side etc. That said you should still be able to...

    Rusted Garage RSJ

Would suggest cleaning the rust up with a wire brush or drill attachment. Inspect, use a suitable rust cure and then prime and paint. All depends on condition but difficult to gauge without photos

can this be repaired or do i need a new one?

I would use ply and wedge it from the floor rather than trying to attach it to the brick work. With the ply can you fashion a former taking the shape and size from the opposite end?

Decking on sloping concrete with shallow end...

You would want the deck boards under the pvc cill. I appreciate it may give you more space to play with but probably more of a headache overall. Personally I would want the boards under the cill and feelnit would look neater

can this be repaired or do i need a new one?

The phot is awful... are we looking at the area in the rectangle? The left hand section of the cill appears to be worse affected. Could be rebuilt with concrete. Really depends upon the appearance you want

List of Tory and DUP MPs who voted against a fair pay rise for the NHS

I didn’t see any whinging in my post, it was a statement of fact. The article is from 3 years ago you clutz!!

List of Tory and DUP MPs who voted against a fair pay rise for the NHS

You appear to have linked to an article nearly 3 years ago. You also missed off a huge number of MPs focussing only on 6. The 1% pay cap is due to end this years isn’t it? Will be interesting to see what happens rather than worrying about what happened in the past.

    Bird nesting problem

Would suggest you need to get back up the ladder for a proper look. Those spikes look awful I would remove them and use chicken wire in future to seal the access hole

    Door too low for decking

Would have to be a particularly thin joist at the door end. Looking at the garden it doesn’t look particularly level so appears you would have to do some serious excavation anyway. Could you get away with a floating frame on top of the concrete? Difficult to tell

    Filling cracked patio gaps

Probably a pre-mixed mortar would be your best bet once you have removed the lose material. You will likely have a colour mismatch so may be best if you can point the other gaps as well. Thin bleach (not thick) and a stiff brush prior to jet washing should remove the nasty stuff

    Decking oil question

Magic, will have a nosey. Must be very rewarding and you can enjoy it whilst being at home :-)

    Decking oil question

Looks fantastic. Was all the wood new? Assuming so, I am looking at a product to recoat existing decking but not sure what has been used previously. Jet washed it this weekend but not sure whether to go over it again. What are the glazed panels you have used? Are they child friendly?

Should I paint the stairs and railings?

My thoughts are to change the banisters. I think that design is a little dated and something more modern would improve the feel of the lounge as well. Maybe a white gloss if you were dead set on keeping them
