Found a vertical pipe sticking out of floor-gas or water???

I'm positive he is, his bread and butter is boiler installs, and I've used him for ages. That said, out of interest, I am now going to check! As an aside - if this is a gas pipe, I assume its a relatively straightforward job - simply purge the system at the meter, open the end on this pipe...

    Flooring in new kitchen

I'm far from an expert (in fact not at all!) but my own research into this (was in the same situation) is that you can very much tile on top of these. You could I suppose even get screed on and put it over the top of them. The tiles are not licensable work though I dont believe, and I...

Found a vertical pipe sticking out of floor-gas or water???

Cheers guys. Getting a plumber out anyway, as whichever way it goes it will need removing - was more curious than anything else to be honest! I suspect it may have been for a cooking appliance, so gas :)

Found a vertical pipe sticking out of floor-gas or water???

Hi all, My kitchen saga continues (seem to do nothing but post on here these days begging for help!). Took out a half height partition wall today, and found a pipe sticking out right in the middle of my new kitchen floor.... It looks ancient (metal), and I dont know whether its gas or...

Seperate oven and hob - electric

Thanks very much. Out of interest, what is the maximum power output (kW) that a standard socket can support?

Seperate oven and hob - electric

Yeh I know Steve - sorry, just couldnt find this information out (stupidly bought an oven without instructions :) ). Am I right in assuming then, from what you have just said, that due to the fact there is a 13A (sealed) plug, that it can run from a standard ring main?

Seperate oven and hob - electric

OK it would appear I've pretty much answered my own question, as it has a plug socket with a 13A fuse, it would appear to run from a standard socket. Final question (apologies - electrical know nowt!) - I assume that it isnt a problem to strip out the socket and wire directly into a 13A fused...

Seperate oven and hob - electric

The only thing I can find on the oven is that its energy consumption is 0.84 kWh..... Whether it makes a difference, it has come prewired with a plug, which would make me think the oven can sit on a standard ring main?

Seperate oven and hob - electric

OK hob is 6kW. Cant find anything on the oven - still trying! Is the 6kW too much to go on standard circuit?

Seperate oven and hob - electric

Not off the top of my head, but can obviously find out. The existing installation appears to have the oven connected to the cooker switch and the hob to the ring main, but wasnt sure if that was current regulation!

Seperate oven and hob - electric

Hi all, Quick question this (cant find it elsewhere). In the case of a seperate oven and hob, is it the oven or the hob which needs its own circuit (the other being on standard ring circuit), or both on seperate circuits of their own, or both on the same dedicated circuit? If the...

Damp Proof Membrane on possibly damp concrete floor...

Hi all, When I pulled up the old laminate (with poly underlay) from our kitchen, there was one significant damp patch underneath - at the time, I assumed this was due to a leak in the kitchen with the prior occupants appliances - the damp disappeared after a few hours. However, I now wonder...

    Tiling on concrete slab subfloor

Yeh I noticed that too tictic thanks :) and was pondering on it! Only thing is that I'm in something of a desperate rush to get this done (i.e. by middle of next week pretty much latest, I have no kitchen until its done!) - so therefore trying to use the existing workmen I have. that said...

    Tiling on concrete slab subfloor

Hey guys, thanks for the responses. The reasoning behind the "overkill" is because although I dont suspect the floor is damp per se, I do think that its a little bit more moisture containing than I would like. Therefore, wanting to prevent any damp and associated vapour. Also, there is...
