    Eaves height? Existing building?

Hi - in the following post it was established that the proposed design was most likely within permitted development: https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/do-i-need-to-make-a-planning-application.508339/ The wall I have highlighted in the following image would rest on an area which could be...

    Permitted Development

Neighbours can disagree with the larger extensions. If they disagree the planning department then goes back to normal planning rules. Bit of a joke really as it just forces you back down the complex, expensive, long and unpredictable planning application process which seems to have created an...

    Measuring height - permitted development

Hi, Under permitted development, I believe that we can have the extended part of a single storey extension as tall as 4m in height. If we have a parapet wall similar to that shown in the following drawing then is it A or B that needs to be no higher than 4m? Thanks!

    Night latch jamming

For anybody else who has this problem: we reread the instructions and noted that our nightlatch was a right turn only one. However, we had not installed the plate which prevented left turns. It looks like successive left turns rotated the nightlatch into a position where it could not turn...

    Night latch jamming

We fitted a nightlatch with a Yale smart lock which is behaving inconsistly. It sometimes jams and it sometimes does not engage. Any troubleshooting tips? Here is an example of it jamming: In this case it eventually unjams after many tries. Yale have asked me to check the tailbar, but...

    Megaflo D70 1 Shower

Just out of interest... is this required because small amounts of water can be left inside the bubble each time it expands and contracts and over time this accumulates to the point where the bubble’s capacity is negligible?

Perhaps the wrong terminology... Like this?

    Megaflo D70 1 Shower

Just timed the shower properly and looks like it's 5 minutes only! We have never recharged the pressure relief valve - ever - so we have a drip too... will try and fix that. I guess this does not really affect the hot water capacity though - is that correct?

Ok - that makes sense - cheers.

    Megaflo D70 1 Shower

We have a Megaflo D70. Should it be able to keep up with the use of 1 shower continuously? We seems to run out of water after a 10 minute shower at the moment. I don’t think there is another boiler in the system - should there be? ... the property has electricity only.

    sliding doors and windows

Hi - can anybody recommend some decent UK suppliers for windows and sliding doors with thin (black) frames? Looking for a couple of places to start our research... Thanks!

    Permitted Development - eaves location

OK, some of the ones in there were pretty bad! I wonder if these guys did No. 4: http://homerenovationn.gdn/elegant-victorian-terrace-extension-design/elegant-victorian-terrace-extension-design_2/

    Permitted Development - eaves location

In a previous discussion, the following design was determined as being within PD: Would this design still be within PD if we flipped the new exteion around and had the eaves towards the centre of the plot like this? (We were just thinking that this option may make the rainwater system...

    Certificate of Lawful Development

@tony1851 - thanks! Wish our council was this clear!

    Certificate of Lawful Development

If we are doing an extension plus altering an existing part of our building as well can we apply for 1 x Lawful Development Certificate to cover both these pieces of work (which would be carried out at the same time)? That is, we describe our Class A (new extension) and Class B (alteration of...

    Identifying and purchasing glass

Notch7 - thank you for sharing your knowledge! Few follow up questions: * BS6206A - is there a new equivalent standard I should follow if I want something equivalent? * "...the otger skin may have been" - do you mean that there may have been some kind of laminate on the toughened glass? *...

    Identifying and purchasing glass

Hello KemGMac, not an insurance claim. As for the cause of the shattering, we have no idea... there were no rocks, bird wing marks or anything like that. Just a huge shattered panel. It looked quite beautiful actually.

    Identifying and purchasing glass

We came home to find our patio door glass shattered. Thankfully it was only the outside pane. To this day we have no idea why this happened. Anyhow, we had a contractor quote a piece of glass and install it. However, when they came to put it in, the unit they brought with them used glass...

Do I need to make a planning application?

With full planning I would be willing to place a bet that they would not allow the 3m extension that is infilling the gap. At least they would not allow it unless I lowered the whole thing to fence height (around 2m) and then dug down. I had a look through old planning applications and they...
