    Paintbrushes

As dcdec states, it depends on the system your applying. I however do like Hamilton Perfection brushes for oil based and Purdy Monarch Elite for water based. I find that bristle is a bit stiff for water based, but works well for oil based as it helps spread the paint and the prolonged drying...

    Becoming an electrician

I went down the 2330 route but this will just take you through the theory. After the 2330 you will need to complete an NVQ 3 which will involve having to work on site and gain enough experience in a lot of differing aspects of electrical installations. I was informed by my college that I had to...

    Stain block

BIN and 123 are two differing zinsser products. BIN is schelac based and 123 is water based. For a water stain I personally would not recommend 123. I would prefer to opt for a solvent or schelac based product (zinsser BIN or coverstain). But you may get away with using oil based undercoat to...

    Preparation

Or use a primer that will act like a knotting agent. Something like aluminum primer or zinsser BIN.

    Training

What I did was enroll on the 2330 course for 2 years then went on to do the NVQ3 and AM2 assessment. You need to have an electrical placement for the nvq stage but do not need one for the first 2 years. I was lucky and had a placement for all 3 years and feel that it was defo a benefit. I just...

Patching Up Cracked/Flaked Paint in Hallway

You're preference to a certain product does not mean that other peoples choices are wrong. I have used Polycell fine surface filler for years and it does what it is meant to do! The ease of using ready mixed for such a small amount out weighs mixing your own in my opinion! P.S I've PM'd you!

    Cutting wallpaper around a fireplace

Fair play, I maybe should have went into more detail in regards to whether or not to centre the first drop or hang to the side of the centre line. Also about the prep involved and whether or not the op should line first. Also the fact that the op should size(thinned down paste) /or coat up with...

    Ronseal exterior paint - problems

I've got to say I have not had any problems with stormshield. It may just be that you have had a faulty product. Johnstones have a great range of products, and a great reputation, but mistakes can be made. My first choice for external gloss systems is dulux weathershield.

    Cutting wallpaper around a fireplace

With practice! It's done by cutting then maneuvering the paper and doing another cut and so on until it's complete. You've also got to be careful that you don't put too much tension on the paper as it will tear along your cuts. Probably one of the trickiest parts of paper hanging is cutting...
