Opinions on Baxi DuoTec (Mk2) 40 GA please?

Thinking of installing a Baxi DuoTec (Mk2) 40 GA... Have read various negative reviews on here of the new Baxis, but was wondering if anyone actually has anything positive to say about them?! Flow-rate seems very good for the 40kW version (16 l/min?). But this is probably over-powered for...

Cooker & Induction Hob Isolation Switches

Thanks for your reply... Just assumed (looking through other posts) that induction hobs place a really high demand. Do you reckon a 45A CCU on 10mm would supply both induction hob and double fan oven (and perhaps even a socket on the CCU?)

Cooker & Induction Hob Isolation Switches

Had a good search through the forums, but our problem comes from the fact that we haven't bought the appliances yet - however we still want to keep everything future-proof before we re-tile the kitchen, etc. So... Should we ever fit an induction hob, understand that these can draw high...

3A plinth lights direct off lighting circuit...

Should be able to pick up switched-live and neutral at junction box in ceiling?

3A plinth lights direct off lighting circuit...

Many thanks for the replies - just wanted to check... The lights are these: http://www.screwfix.com/p/apollo-deck-light-kit-polished-stainless-steel-white-0-05w-pack-of-10/22392 So to confirm, you'd extend from the light switch to a wall outlet plate in the right location for the...

3A plinth lights direct off lighting circuit...

Quick question please - is it possible to run LED plinth lights in a kitchen directly off the lighting circuit? Plug is 3A fused to an in-line 12v transformer, rated at 0.022A max. Due to "U"-shape of kitchen, would need to chase from light switch to an unswitched socket for transformer...

    DPST? 2 switch / 3 circuits (2 independent, 1 shared)

That's very similar to our original thoughts (particularly the bottom two lounge pictures)... Looks the business if you can pull it off. Downlights (albeit smaller) in the lowered edges of the "ceiling tray", LED strip lights (or as you say, cold cathode tubes?) in the hidden recesses, and a...

    DPST? 2 switch / 3 circuits (2 independent, 1 shared)

I'll bow to public opinion... ...but out of interest, what would people actually suggest rather than just the two sparse and lonely dangling ceiling lights?! Looking for something a little creative and classy yet achievable! Thanks.

    DPST? 2 switch / 3 circuits (2 independent, 1 shared)

You're right - both in the same position... Going for the Crabtree / MK / Varilight grid system, so something like: http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/MKK4896.html to fit along with light switches for the "normal" ceiling lights (one centred within each "box" of downlights)...

    DPST? 2 switch / 3 circuits (2 independent, 1 shared)

Not sure that LED lamps are within budget just yet... Dare I ask what folk recommend as the usual spacing for CFL downlights to cast sufficient light? I'd been working on assumption that 11W CFL is (when eventually warmed up) equivalent to 50W incandescent? Or might even use 8W CFLs...

    DPST? 2 switch / 3 circuits (2 independent, 1 shared)

No, not in series - more a lack of my artistic ability with SmartDraw to show the junction boxes, neutral and CPC too... The diagram only shows live / switched live for clarity, but I appreciate your comment - the way I've used the icons does make it look like series, but that wasn't my...

    DPST? 2 switch / 3 circuits (2 independent, 1 shared)

In the process of a complete property renovation and aside from moving a few switches / adding a couple of sockets, have pretty much left the electrics alone (limited scope due to concrete ground floor - ie, all ground floor sockets appear to be spurs off ring final main on first floor)...

    DPST? 2 switch / 3 circuits (2 independent, 1 shared)

Perfect - thanks... Thought those double-pole 1-way switches were usually for isolating the live and neutral, but like your approach. Are there any issues with both of the switched lives of the middle row being connected? Point noted about the load. Had planned to use LED lamps, although...

    DPST? 2 switch / 3 circuits (2 independent, 1 shared)

Thanks Owain. Had considered the 3-switch option, but just wondered if there was a neater solution. Happy to go down the Crabtree / MK / Varilight grid route to incorporate other light switches too - just can't find a DPST version though... What do you mean by the 20A version? Do they...

    DPST? 2 switch / 3 circuits (2 independent, 1 shared)

Is this the right/best way?! Simplified diagram: Problem: Two light switches will operate three light circuits - the middle one to come on with either switch. Context: Living / dining area with downlights in a boxy "8" shape - ie. all around the outside of the ceiling, and then a joining...
