Infrared heating to warm floor? If not, what?

Am I totally wrong in thinking that if i mount an infrared heater on the ceiling of a kitchen that has a concrete floor, it will warm up the floor and make it feel like underfloor heating? Or would it warm up your head when standing under it but not really warm the floor? Ceiling height is...

Creating Slope on a Flat Roof

What roofing material are you planning to use? 1. Yes. Run decent thickness battens across the joists first and add firrings on top of this. Any insulation going in? 2. Personally I'd make my own with a skill saw.

Are these walls structural? Depends how you interpret structural?

Yup, 100% sure. I'll try and get a drawing on here. Another thing that makes me pretty confident that the interior walls aren't load bearing is that the ceiling lathe and plaster runs over the top of the walls! So any roof joist that happens to be 'bearing' on a wall is first bearing on lathe...

Are these walls structural? Depends how you interpret structural?

Hi. The joists span outside wall to outside wall - approx 7m. They are trussed rafters yes. Similar to attached. Without the hanger, purlin and binder. And the ridge collar is lower down.

Are these walls structural? Depends how you interpret structural?

Thanks Tony. I'll see if i can find the equivalent Scottish clause. You're right, it's one of those ones where i could just do it and forget about it. But i don't want it re-appearing in the future.

Are these walls structural? Depends how you interpret structural?

Hi. I want to take down/change some internal walls. Single leaf brick construction. The walls do not support the roof joists - it happens to be a bungalow if that makes any difference (attic is semi boarded). I want to prove to building standards (Scotland) that the walls are not structural...

How to tell what foundations my house has?

Hi, I am planning on doing some drawings for building regs purposes. Some of the foundations of the house are visible as we have removed floor boards and had a dig around. Without digging right down, it's hard to make an accurate drawing. Any tips for this? And......how would an architect or...

    Gas or electric?

"Green deal for solid wall insulation? I'm not sure on the rules wmfor what's presumably an investment but worth a check.." I think they are referring to grants rather than RHI, right?

    Gas or electric?

What do you mean by "not register the assessment"? Do you mean, he comes to see the before but does not produce the EPC report until the upgrade work has been done?

    Gas or electric?

I've actually already had the quote for gas mains installation and it wasn't too bad in my opinion. £750. Or £700 if i dig the trench! Safe to say i'm not digging the trench. I don't think there are any grants available in Scotland. Certainly, the conditions which one must meet in order to get...

    Suggestions for under-roof material

True. I think the answer is probably fairly flammable! Something like this may also work https://www.drainagesuperstore.co.uk/product/spudulica-non-woven-geotextile-membrane-2-25m-x-8-88m.html

    Gas or electric?

Thanks. My opinion of EPC's (the certificates not the individuals (necessarily)) is that they are 50% made up/guess work. However, it's the system we have in place and you are right, it forms an important part of the sale process. On another note, if i plan to upgrade the insulation myself...
