    Intumescent strips

Do intumescent strips have to be continuous when fitted to a new fire door going in an old frame or can they stop and start either side of hinges and the latch?

    impact driver capability?

I was toying with the idea of getting an impact driver until I tried some different screws one day. I needed some 4'' screws and spotted some new ones at the timber yard - Timco Classic Plus with the torx head. The difference between these and a more standard type screw was night and day - I...

    What SDS drill

Agree with the blue Bosch recommendation - I recently bought this one; http://www.screwfix.com/p/bosch-gbh-2400-2kg-sds-plus-hammer-drill-240v/51132 It seems to have gone up a bit but shop around - it's a beast, nothing it hasn't gone through yet and also made short work of hacking off a...

    Laser level

I've just bought a Bosch Quigo to set out bathroom tiling - it seems pretty good to be fair, plenty bright enough and tests suggest accuracy is good. I've never had a laser level before and thought I would buy this to start off with before investing in something more expensive (in the...

    Jointing slabs

I've used the point master and reckon it's pretty good - you'll need a dry day and don't fill more joints than you can safely iron up in good time as once the joint is filled you need to leave it to firm right up for best results. Another way I also use is to make your pointing gear just damp...

    18v combi drill?

I recently bought this drill from Screwfix; http://www.screwfix.com/p/hitachi-dv18dcl2-18v-1-5ah-li-ion-cordless-combi-drill/64945 Mainly because I've had a Hitachi 9'' circular saw for ages with no problems (so I'm confident with the brand) and it has 2 1.5ah Li-Ion batteries - tons of good...

    PG Tips

You're all wrong :P The only way to make good tea is with proper loose leaf tea, in a proper pot. As far as one cup brewed with a single bag the Yorkshire ones are pretty good, as are Red Label. :D

Which brand of pushfit is the best?

Got a towel rail to move and the space under the floor in the new position is very limited for soldering and compression - the easiest (and probably best under the circumstances) way to make the new joints to the tails would be pushfit. What is the most reliable brand please?

Virginmedia Email, which way to go?

Incorrect. You can get gmail to fetch email from any account you own. It will certainly display fred(at)virginmedia.com once you have provided the password etc to prove it's your address. It's a simple process to set up and as with everything with gmail it works well.
