    Best base for a 6 x 4 garden shed

we have our 8 x 6 shed sitting on 3 x 2 concrete flags, never had any problems as long as you make sure there all bedded firmly and don't rock you shouldn't either. You will probably get some people tell you that you need to pour a concrete slab for it but in reality you don't, its only a...

    OX tools plastering trowel

Anyone used any tools from a company called ox, there quite new I think. I've seen they do an 18" preworn trowel that I thought would be ideal for flattening in when skimming. Prices seem reasonable just don't know what the tools are like. Don't know if this would be better in the...

    Dot and dab/room size loss

not sure about cost as we only occasionally do dot and dab and we do it ourselves and then get someone in to skim it unless its a small area, 95% of our work is on studs so we just board and skim. Im sure a pro plasterer will be along to advise on the cost difference shortly.

    Flat roof cost

Got a quote to have our front dormer re felted from our usual builder. Size is 6.5 x 2m We were quoted £850 to strip off old felt and apply two layers of felt using hot bitumen and then torch on mineral felt cappings. All rubbish removed from job. This price isn't for reboarding...

    Trouble with renovating staircase

screw the base rail into the stringer and then thicken the stringer up with matching timber. So if its an oak base rail and spindles thicken the stringer up with oak or if your going to paint it all just use mdf and paint that as well. This is how we did our's and its been like that for...

advice putting up a garden fence please

thanks for the extra pics. As you say looking at those brackets there not perfect but they will probably do the job if you remove a bit off the battens with a chisel or something of that nature. If the panels still feel a bit insecure once in you could always use some angle brackets fastened...

advice putting up a garden fence please

use galvanised coach bolts to attach the new posts, you might even be able to use the old bolts providing there long enough and not rusty. If the fence panels came with clips then you should use these, what do they look like? Usually the rails on the back of feather edge fencing would be...

    concrete mix for drive/hard standing

I would use 10mm limestone, It will be easier to get a good finish than with 20. Mix it 4 stone, 2 Sharp sand, 1 cement. If your using a belle mixer the easiest way do do that is 2 bags stone, 1 bag sand and half bag cement. Don't bother with all in ballast the last time I used it...

    Screw gun?

sorry todrag this thread up again but how have you found the silverline gun? At £35 its a steal if it does the job. I usually tend to steer away from silverline but I cant justify paying hundereds for a tool that I will only use once in a blue moon so thought this might be a good alternative
